About 2 years ago, I bought a little USB powered ethernet hub on ebay. Nothing fancy, but it had 4 ports and supported gigabit ethernet.

I mainly used it for wireshark (note - a HUB not a switch) and life was good.

Problem is, I've lost it, and need to get my pentesting kit together again; that said, try as hard as I wish, I can't find one anymore.

Being USB powered meant that I didn't have to carry a power brick around...

Any ideas where I can find one?

Thanks - but as mentioned above; it's a switch not a hub... and I need a hub ;)

Funny how something so basic has been replaced by the more "complex" solution to the point that it's almost impossible to find a hub! Even finding an older 10/100 hub was proving hard; let alone a gigabit one!

Thanks :)

That $70 one doesn't look bad - that said, thinking about it; a good place to sniff is just before a wireless AP. They usually are not overly guarded (generally just concealed behind a drop ceiling) and easy to access... (that looks like the one I used to have... in fact, I think it was precisely that one...)

So I'll buy the one with POE support... just need to wait for formal approval!

USB powered is a must - I travel for work, and carrying a large kit of power supplies is a pain! It also means adapters to carry, etc. I rather everything be powered off the laptop, and carry 1 PSU and one adapter for whatever country I'm in...
