V Power Petrol Prices

There are specs and tests for oils to meet and data published to show which oils meet which specs.
The question is for how much longer after the test is conducted can an oil still meet the spec. That is, how it performs in the engine - not the test tube.
Yes its amazing Mercedes commercial vehicles can clock up 200,000 miles plus using ordinary fuel and probably basic MB spec oil.
I wonder how far they could go using super fuel with all the cleaning properties and Mobil 1 ?

The file is too large to post so here's a copy and paste of the text (sorry, no photos). No, not Mobil 1.

''When it comes to extending drain intervals and protecting the engine from wear and deposits, field tests were conducted to determine real world durability of the SAE 15W-40 formulation used for Monolec Ultra® Engine Oil (8800). The test consisted of four trucks* hauling full loads cross-country and back. At 50,000 miles, the drain intervals were double the OEM recommendation. After 600,000 miles, three of the engines were torn down and inspected. The results are shown in the pictures below. One engine continued to one million miles and was also in excellent condition at the end of the test. LE engine oil passes million-mile field test challenge
*The four test vehicles were 2008 Peterbilt model 387, class 8, long-haul trucks with 2007 Cummins ISX 15-liter, 450-hp EGR engines – all specifying SAE 15W-40 CJ-4/SM engine oil.
Other In addition to the results shown above, the camshaft rollers, injector cam bearings, engine cylinders, wrist pin bushings, and valve and brake cam bearings all showed excellent cleanliness and wear protection. The valve cover, oil pan, and valve train showed excellent sludge control.''

That's what I use in my engines - and why.

Whos willing to bet that they would have got similar or the same results with pretty much any other oil manufactured to the same spec.......I think I would!

There's them that did and them that cant - or they would.
That mileage on doubled drain intervals - well where's the evidence of others having done it? Put up or....

Diesel engines with heavy carbon deposits can do many miles before the situation ever becomes detrimental. The more common symptoms are poor mpg and low power output. Not everyone cares, though, especially not the 'white van' brigade...

Wow thats cheaper....only a couple of places have recently crept below 180 around here.

Standard diesel still around 180p in Cardiff and about 186p in London - at the places I've seen anyway. I'm talking supermarket rates here.

Hell's teeth  ! £1.68 at Slough Tesco, yesterday too.

Surely they must be held to account with oil at mid $80’s and the dollar at 1.23 today there’s no more excuses for it to be so high

I’ve been loyal to VPower and Optimax before that for as long as it’s been available, using Tesco and Esso 99 RON when there’s not a Shell for many miles (which for me was 40 mile radius, and I know that’s nuts).

However the premium for VPower is nuts now. Regular unleaded at Shell is already more expensive that elsewhere and the premium adds even more, it could be as much as 30p per litre more than regular unleaded from a non-She’ll station.

So much so I’m using Tesco Momentum almost as often as Shell now in most cars. I’m happy with a sensible or even cheeky premium but it feels like exploitation now, which doesn’t sit easily with me.

Ironically I’ve recently moved house so I’m now relatively close to a Shell station I used to drive 30-40 minutes to because it was very sensibly priced. Since Summer though there prices have gone haywire. I think they locally controlled prices, and that’s stopped.

V Power prices are joke.
Momentum 99 Ron is only 7p a litre more than E10 unleaded. Currently E10 is £1 48.9 at my local Tesco.
I never felt or saw any benefit in V Power over Momentum.
I use Momentum all the time now - V Power if no Momentum available
