V6CDi loss of power

Whole new manifold getting fixed. The specialist said, lots of wear and we originally replaced the clip to the linkages, however given the state of it, we'd expect it to break again.

He said, there is a slight weaping of oil from the Turbo seal but nothing to suggest the turbo is gone, so I advised I'd like that changed. Given there is a now a modified seal, surely this will see the end of this problem?

I asked about EGR being disabled and he said "I could blank the valve off" but it would put it into limp mode, he didn't know of any company that could remap the car to disable EGR.

2x new manifolds, new motor, new turbo seal and shed should be back in action. I am looking forward to driving her already :D

I saw this when I was looking for a fix for mine. I was not brave enough to go for it though!

Can you then blank off the EGR. I would assume also you'd need to remove the swirl flaps or jam them open to allow full airflow? In theory the motor should be able to be left in place but it wouldn't operate anything but apparently it learns the resistance to operate the flaps through the linkages, so it would learn nill resistance. Obviously there would be no linkage so it would operate nothing. You might not even have to go that far, as without EGR, the manifold shouldn't clog.

I don't want to be the guinepig, but never seen or heard of this been done to CDi's or this box. I know on MBOA folk are working on V6CDi EGR removal.

I'll have the shed back tomorrow. Mercedes sent my fella the wrong manifold so he had that to sort out. New manifold in and should be fixed. £1419 inc VAT with a discount from the last job which failed. With a B service done she's had £2000 spent on her.

Is the warranty paying for the manifold...or is this yours?

Thats a lot of dough mate. We ll let you off paying on our next night out.

The Royal 'We' one assumes ?

Great to hear it's all getting sorted out and back doing what it's good at soon.

Shame about the bill - hopefully the last one for a long while ......

You'll be tempted to keep it now because of the spend and then be cursing in 6 months when something else goes.
Is it v8 o'clock?

Wow, that's a lot to spend on one job and a service.

Get yourself a nice E300TD, have the body sorted and just drive it. You would save all the depreciation and loads of hassle and expense.

It better fecking not. Bar the transmission there ain't anything else that can go that hasn't already? Its all fixed and raring to go, I may well sell it, but thats another story, I may not, not sure. Depends on what cars come up that I would buy and what prices.

I am contemplating selling it for a good price as a) a lot of work has been done to it b) its in remarkable condition

I don't want to run an "uneconomical" car. I still do 15k mile/yr (down from 25k as not using the car to get to work) and the appeal of saving well over £150pm on fuel, appeals more than the additional power I would have. A 210 300TD does actually appeal as well.

The worst time to sell a car is just after a large repair bill as you don't get either the benefit or the money back.

They are well old, can't add new ones. PS, that thought has gone through my mind, but if I got £10k for it, its done rather well cost wise over 38k miles.

Yes he eats so god dam much the Ho Wong had to sacrifice more chickens out back for him. I think you and Ltd should take care of the next bill.
