vito 639 seats

Thats just a joke, MB not knowing that it needed SCN coding is a disgrace.
I take it you did not pay them?

Does the phone buttons all work as well?

Yes, the phone buttons all work.

Thankfully I had agreed a price with them in advance.

seat fitting

Hello all,
Just about to buy my first Vito and want to convert to a dualiner. I have read Zenmans great instructions but could do with some more detail, possibly because I'm a bit thick sometimes!

When fitting the rails, is it two bolts at the top and one at the bottom or the other way round?

Why can't you just get under the vehicle and fit the bars from underneath?

If you cut the floor between the 3 rail holes, is there a best place to do this - middle, off centre - and if so does any one have any measurements?

Has any one done a picture before, during and after?

Sorry for te questions and I'm sure things will be clear, without the questions, once I actually get the vito!!

The bars go inside a closed box section.

Don't under estimate this job the rear needs stripping out to get to the floor, inc the front seats and bases just to get the floor up.

Thanks for the response. I realise its a big job, but I think it will be a good learning curve.
Does any know answers to any of the other questions?

What do you need to know?
Have you got the seats and rails and new floor?

Yes I have the seats, flooring and rails. Its just where to cut the hole really. Is it in the middle of the 3 fixing points or just off centre?

What type of flooring do you have in your van? Is it a wooden, carpet or the plastic type?

Its in the middle, use the new floor as the template for the basic position.
You don't have much to play with as you will see.

Hi Big Un/zenman, your post regarding the fitting seats into standard panel van makes very interesting reading and will be very usefull, I have now purchased a set of seats with the view to fitting them into my vito however I require one final piece of information. Can you by any chance tell me the measurment/position front to back from a known point that the rails need to be to located prior to drilling make them standard to a dualiner?

I have the measurements somewhere. Are you going to be swapping your flooring as presumably you have the wooden floor at the moment? The easiest way is to get your new flooring as the cut outs are marked underneath, failing that I'm sure I could measure mine.

Yes I currently have the wooden floor in I was planning on getting the measurements and cutting the slots out of the wooden floor for the rails to slot into, it would be a great help if you have some measurements?

I have the long version.

You can cut the floor easy enough, its mega to get it out the van!, both front seats and bases have to come out, and any trim in the rear then its at an angle and it slides out.

^^ Doddle.. just remember if you leave your floor in you will need something with a very short blade to cut it. Or as zenman says lift it up & then cut it.

That's an Idea, cut the floor down with a router, its only resin ply.
So all he needs now is the locations of the slots.
I cannot help there as the Viano has the seat rails.
I would just go to the dealers with a tape.

I will remove the wooden floor prior to cutting it looks like it will easily come out as it is only held in by the strapping points, I have already lifted the floor to check to see if the bolt holes for the rails are there.

Are the new facelift vito vans the same as the 639 model vans for obtaining the measurements?

The floor is also siliconed into position in a few places so can be tricky to remove, I would go for the router option myself once you know the positions. The facelift dualiners are exactly the same in the back as the pre-facelift versions just the trim colour is different , so measure one of those . As Zenman says its not that easy to remove as the floor gets stuck on various parts of the van if you dont remove the front seats .

Think I just struggled a bit over the wheel arches so ended up having to use the jigsaw on it but if your keeping your floor maybe best to go with zenmans option!
