W124 E300d Fuel Lines

Yep. Good job Silversaloon bought an Australian import hey...cobba.

Couldn't find any other than the small green one on the pushrod, which was in fine fettle so I left it.
I think they go under the screw on unions to seal the threads.

yep.... mine didnt seem to have this either, but its the only o-ring i purchased that i could see where it realistically would fit, so i fitted it.

- i've added some plumbers tape to the banjo that goes into the IP - should definatly be no leaks now if this was leaking (which i dont think it was), so if there is still a leak it must be the delivery valve seals.

i havnt removed the manifold yet as i dont have the gasket/parts etc or the time as i go away for 2 weeks this thursday.

I will be doing the job (if that new plumbers tape hasnt fixed it) in a couple of weeks time and will take some photos.

I have found it easier to work from under the car because as i've not removed the manifold before (and dont have the necessary parts to replace old broken bits that apparently will break), i've found it easier to replace the IP face plate from under the car. Drive up onto ramps, remove the metal shield and away i go. It was also useful as i wanted to check that i didnt have any engine oil leaks after changing my oil last week (touch wood, none yet!!)

thanks - will update the thread when i have more news.

Derek

Does anyone have the part numbers for the delivery valve seal o-rings and the copper washers?

or even better, the exact sizes of these so i can order Viton ones from my supplier?

cheers

Although it *probably* makes no difference to the delivery valves and seals, that's a later injector pump. The 1995 W124 E300D doesn't have the shut off valve (11 on the drawing), and the detail of the govenor end of the pump is also different.

Thats the European OM 606 910 22 011858 engine from the chassis number Derek supplied - nothing else listed

From WIS

My OM606910 is a later engine number than that, and has the older style pump. I *think* that the newer pump, as pictured, with shut off valve and electronic governor was only introduced for W210s.

I *suspect* that this won't make any difference for the delivery valves O ring seals, and washers, but I don't know this for a fact.

Its strange that there are two different setups for the valve using the same chassis number

The first is from the EPC and the second from the workshop manual so not sure what the deal there is, normally there is a reference to Euro/US modles but not on this one.

Derek, copy both pics and email to your MB dealer and order both with a view to returning those that dont fit.

thanks, but how do i get the actual part numbers?

Well the first pic is from the electronic parts catalogue which should be good enough to quote from numberwise.

When I order bits such as seals I use those numbers bt back it up with a pic in an email - its identical to the latest 08 online EPC apart from the obvious later models.

Not sure but I think this should do. A0000741759 or alternatively A0049974540
The ones for the W124 on are not listed as available but dealers often have replacement ones.
Both in stock with MB-parts-online..at 42p each..;)

There are no numbers available for the parts in question. Look at the tag numbers.

I've ordered up lots of parts for this from MB. All going well i may do this job this weekend :) i'll take some pics aswell.

Good luck with that, I'd be careful of the small springs :p

You will need a special MB tool to get 'em out as well, there's a chap on here who bought one and lends it out -

I can never find these threads again with such common search words (valves :(

Just out of interest are you going to attempt all of this from underneath the car, I observed you had a reluctance to take off the air intake manifold :o

The job your about to undertake is by magnitude a 100x more difficult than the manifold..not that I want to put you off or anything....

Dont forget the pictures of you on hands and knee's looking for said things made from coiled springy stuff -:D

i have ordered the tool from MB. Parts guy said shouldnt be trouble in me having it.

This time the manifold is coming off  i've ordered new gasket and a few clips some members have said will break but i'll be extra careful as its my luck not to of ordered the one bit that breaks!!

Armed with the how-to and also some extra research and help from on here, i am quietly confident :)

the car is in for its MOT this thursday - i am a bit concerned that the delivery valve leaks will cause it to fail so i've got the parts ready to fit just incase!!

few questions I have from this thread

below are issues raised that i am not sure about. If anyone could clear them up that would be great.

1. "at the same time, i also ordered a new fuel pre-filter O-ring (which is larger than the others) as this seems to be considered generally as a main source of starting/airleak problems."
Were is this? Vitron seal?

2. "actually have already ordered a new set of clear pipes so will be fitting these anyway.
How much?

3. "so looks like the starting issue has now been fixed (by crimping that connector)."
Which connector?

4. "these clear fuel lines seem to ask for trouble - even the new ones when seated dont seem as secure as my old ones once i'd crimped them."
Not worth getting new lines then?

5. "tank strainer gradually blocking"
possible to remove and clean this strainer?

6. "On the plus side, the car is starting fine since the fix to the fuel filter housing has been done (still got the no-more-nails on it)."
For the leaky manual stop on the fuel filter?

Worth replacing fuel strainer in tank? (#17) is this easy?
