Hi!

I wonder what your friend charges to make a replacement wiring loom for my 1993 W124 Coupe.

Would you be able to ask him mate??

Thanks

Steve

Hi Waft,

as with all these things, its the quantities that will determine the price. We reckon if we get 10, it can be done for about £300-350. That is for a completely new loom, not a rebuild one! As mentioned, he has some experience in doing this in motorsport applications, and he is not the sort of guy to cut corners!

Hopefully we can get a group together to get it done. He will be doing one for my v12 project car too, so I've got two down already....

I could be up for one of these for my e320:-)
Presumably we would need to take off the old one for them to use as a pattern?

Hi Tony,

For those who can live without the car for a few days, yes the easiest way would be to send the loom over, have it replicated and send it back.

If you want to submit your chassis number by PM, or provide your loom part number if you know it, we can have the looms compared. If it's the same as my one, then that will simplify things a bit, and we can just make another without the need to send yours over.

My car is now complete. Ciaran said he didn't know how I made it to his place, bits were hanging together! Here's a before and after pic:

My old S124 E200 needed a new loom, Mercedes wanted stupid money, eventually I got a new loom made by:
TORQUE DEVELOPMENTS INTERNATIONAL PLC,
Unit 5, Cliffside Trade Park,
Motherwell Way,
Thurrock,
Essex
RM20 3XD.
United Kingdom.
0800 107 3250.
It cost approx half what Merc wanted, delighted with it, alas the car was later stolen!
Stav.

Hi I believe my loom is one of the dreaded ones ...mine is a 1993 e280 are there different looms??? Plus does the coil loom also contain the connectors for the temperature sensor as these ones are perished the worst!! Thanks

Yes the coil loom and temp sensors are integral. If there is degredation visible at the temp sensors it almost certainly will be even worse at the coil packs where the engine heat is at it's highest.

Looms vary depending on the spec of the car. eg, if it has cruise it will be different from one that doesn't.

If you have disturbed the loom to the coil packs it is inadvisable to try starting the engine as it's the act of bending the coilpack loom that instigates failure and frying of ECUs

My '94 E280 head Gasket went last night so I'm going to say goodbye to it.
That means I can remove the loom that I had made by Si-leck under a year ago and will sell it on if anyone needs it. It's got the ECU intact too, if any one needs that.
For reference, the loom part number Mercedes quoted me for was 124 440 5332.
It's got cruise control.

I'll put a post in the for sale section as there will be other parts I can remove if anyone needs bits.
