W163 ML270 Rear Quarter Plastic Covers

Can any one help?,

Im looking to remove the black rear quarter plastic covers from an ML270 (between tailgate and rear glass) as the laquer has started peeling from them. Once removed I was hoping to get them repainted. Any tips on taking them off as they dont appear to be on clips!?

From memory I think they are bonded on.

The last set I did I got a windscreen firm to fit them.

I will have a go with a windscreen blade/wire. Just wanted to make sure I wasnt going to break any clips off and end up buying new ones anyway!

May I ask -why not relacquer them in situ? I had the same problem but decided it was too much hassle trying to remove them, so I relacquered them on the car.

Good question, I was planning on sending them to the paintshop to and still being able to use the car. Might be using your option though as they appear to be very well stuck.

Doosh1 did you get your black rear quarter plastic covers re-laquered? My N/S is flaking, just wondering how much it cost?

Yeh all done, Gave the guy £50 for painting but he said it was just as easy to leave them on the car! looks like new...

Did you just have them re-lacquard at the bodyshop?

Yes just left it at the bodyshop in the morning and collected it at 5..
