W202 C23oK saloon 1998 - stereo is garbage!?

Seriously, the quality of the speakers is worse than my Nissan Primera and possibly even my Clio 172!

Why are they so tinny?? Didn't expect this from a Merc. Any decent upgrades people have gone for?

The wiring in the car is fine.

Ive disconnected the rear speakers and removed the downward firing speakers on the rear shelf.

In its place the fronts have been replaced with a custom mac audio 2 way componets for the front doors.2-Wege Kompo System mac Audio Mac Mobil-M202.F: Amazon.de: Elektronik

In the boot is a 12" powered compact sub which vents into the car from the removed rear shelf speakers into the cabin.

Ive done all this on quite a modest budget and done all the install myself. Im quite happy with the results.

Best thing you could do is to start with the speakers and work from there.
