Hi all

I went under my 99 C200 at the weekend to change the fuel filter. The steel bracket that it is mounted on - together with the pump is very rusty. I have sprayed all the screws with loads of WD40 and plan to return to it next weekend. I was thinking it may be more sensible to replace the mounting plate.

Is this a common problem and is it a good idea to repolace the mounting plate?

Cheers

Joe

Not a bad idea make sure you get new screws and any pump /filter insulating rings if required as well as the bracket. there are many bracket permutations so go to your dealer armed with the chassis no. Cost will be £10-20 max I take it the fuel pump assembly is protected by a plastic cover on your car.

You it is all under a cover but is really rusty.....

Thanks

Joe

Mine's quite rusty around the pump mounting as well - have given it a good waxoyl, but would like to get under and clean it up a bit at some point.

Do you have the mud shield fitted,, you could just spray the whole lot with Waxoil
