thanks fuzzer for the pics

hope it helps someone , i was going to do it myself but the w203's were quite a few cars back and never got round to it :)

I cant seem to get a price from the part number, i take it that it been superseeded, think I'll pop down to the Dealers and see what they say and also try and get the part number for the loom

its character building and from what i recon about 30 mins work max. including faffing about with the plastic frame on the screen :)

take the chassis number from the picture down with you , more than likely the sensor part number is a factory part rather than a spare part as they often differ part number , but the parts department will be able to get you anything with the correct chassis number :)

Thanks for all the help, just need to see if i can sort out a lense first, rather than a new screen, Its MB of Glasgow im going to - they been good in the past,

When I did mine the sensor was just the electronics, had to get a new screen for the lenses. But then mine is the combined rain&light sensor and only £38!!

Looks like you could lucky smiddy at £125 perhaps the lenses are part of the sensor, not the screen?

Thanks for the replies. I will take a good look at my windscreen today and try to identify what I already have !

Am I to assume that the stalk remains the same ? - if so, how are the wipers controlled ?

EDIT - Pics Added - do these help identify my screen/sensors at all ?

Sorry for bringing this thread up again, but am still a bit confused...
Have a late '05 (post facelift) model with exactly the same sensor setup. From reading the various threads I need (please correct me if I'm wrong)

1- combined Rain & light sensor (which I can pick up from local MB dealer)
2- some sort of 3-pin harness
3- new windscreen  (not really a problem as mine needs replacing)
4- programing

Is this correct? where to pickup this 3-pin harness and what to do with the 4-pin I have? Thanks

Paulo

Hi Paulo,

Sorry for the delay, been off on hols, I'm stretched today but will try and dig out the part numbers this weekend for you. Basically I bought a new sensor, and a 3 pin plug. I still haven't done the fit, although I have a stone chip on the screen now so will get round to it soon :)

Ok, the 3 parts I have ready are :

A 221 870 000 92 - the combined rain and light sensor
A 029 545 55 28 - a 3 pin plug
A 203 540 90 06 - a short (6 inch ?) lead with a 3 pin plug on one end and a 4 pin on the other end (with only 3 pins wired)

As I said before my windscreen has a couple of chips in it now so I will look to do this probably in July / August and will report back here :)

Thanks for that...:)

My screen is being changed today. One of the stone chips started cracking +-1-2cm but last week overnight it went from that to 40cm...
Think it might have been the big temperature amplitudes we're having at the moment (32ºC day and 14-15ºC @ night).

Take care,
Paulo

I had a chip once and chasing a mosquito in the cabin made it a huge crack. Note to self, windscreen is only made of glass.

Hello PRC,
I want to do the same mod as you and my car is a late w203 2006
I have the same screen and sensor as yours , and if I understand right, all I need is new loom , new RLS,..??
Butt are the parts numbers given by MUPPETZ correct?
Because I typed them in MB uk parts search above without results.

Regards
