Opened the tailgate last week to find mold on the carpet, i cleanned it all off and dryed out the boot area as it was soaking. Week later its wet again. Could this be leaking through seals whilst standing still or maybe underneath whilst driving? Any1 know of common faults? Thanks

There is a dealer update recall for the trunk lid stop buffers! Not sure if this would help?

Sorted! Thanks guys

What was the fix? Having the same issue with water in the trunk

Thx

The dealer recall was to unscrew the tailgate stop buffers 2 turns to stop the tailgate hitting the bumper. This was too much and caused a gap and water to leak

I sugest screw the buffers clockwise 1 full turn to stop a leak but make sure boot aint touching bumper

Been a month of heavy weather and still seams fine now guys

Hi Guys. Sorry to resurrect and old thread. I have a similar issue in my 2011 w204 but my carpet is dry and water is actually collecting in the wheel recess in the bottom right hand corner closest to the bumper and underneath the level of the fuse box...Any ideas? Also i can't seem to find which buffers everyones referring to apart from one either side of the boot lid that you turn anti-clockwise and then physically pull the stop plate out.....hashtag perplexed :/

A friend of mine had the same problem as you. After investigation, it turns out the overflow pipes just below the petrol filler cap were either blocked or dislodged. I'm sure he said he ended up removing the side panel in the boot to access the pipes and clear/reconnect. Good luck.

Thanks very much. Iv tried taking the trim off but can't seem to get deep enough or enough trim off to access the fuel cap. A dry day would help :(

Hi with regard to this problem I to had a job to find out where the overflow pipe went I even pushed a net curtain wire down the overflow pipe to see where it came out with no luck in the end I lost the will to live and I just plugged up the hole with some silicon the boot is nice and dry now with no leeks at all

Hi Liam
did you get anywhere with this ?? as i am sure that the bluetack will leak , as mine has been dry for over 2 years now with no problems the silicon will sick to the rubber as the bluetack will not it will just sit on top and not make a good seal please let me know how you got on
Cheers
Phill
