W205/ S205 Wind Noise?

Yeah, you'd hope so... the previous c250 which I had for a total of 10 days in September was also MY17, but didn't have new felt or acoustic glass. It also had 7g gearbox only.

The 4matic I'd be getting now would be 9g box but I suspect won't have the accoustic glass. Would hope the insulation will be new though. Not sure how to confirm that!

I had noticeable wind noise, sounded like the wind buffeting around the door mirrors on my W205 estate.
Technician took it out with me as passenger and agreed.
They ordered the acoustic glass, (front doors only), and they were fitted today.
On the drive home, it was too windy here on the South Coast to tell if the problem is solved but fingers crossed.
Will update in a couple of weeks.

Interesting... is it relatively new? I've read some online reports from the US suggesting the 'felt' insulation makes all the difference. I couldn't find a similar TSB for it though. I'm looking at getting another c250d but 4matic this time. I'm hoping it won't be noisy, and if it is I'll be back at the dealers asking for glass and felt replacement.

No, my son's car is a month or so older than mine. As it's an AMG-Line it has more tyre noise, but little or no wind noise.

Big improvement after fitting of acoustic glass, very pleased with Mercedes response.

I've now had my (second) new c-class for a couple of days and it's pretty damn quiet! Certainly better then the previous one. Ohh and it's 4matic with the 9g gearbox too!

Took delivery of my W205 in January this year and at motorway speeds there is definitely wind noise at the top of the drivers door. Do you know what the current position is with this issue?

Not noticed a particular issue with wind noise on ours. Don't think it has acoustic glass fitted. I'm wondering if it comes down to how well the door seals fit as much as anything else. A tiny gap along the roof line would be pretty good for generating noise.

Mine suffers from it. Dealer couldn't find anything wrong, but it's definitely not right. It almost sounds if the window is slightly open. Cross winds really magnify it.

Have now arranged to take it to dealer next week for them to check out the tyres for any uneven wear due to Mr Crabby and also will bring to their attention the wind noise issue but assume will need to take their Technician out for a spin in order for them to hear it. I can't imagine they will immediately offer to replace window probably just go down the seal road. What do you think?

Mid 2016 build C350e here and no wind noise at speed. Very quiet most of the time but on some surfaces, the tyre noise can be bloody awful.

Does anyone know whether a January 2017 build has acoustic glass as standard?

You'd think they would have sorted this seemingly random pattern problem by now, after nearly 2 years, as a manufacturing rectification.

Hello

I have an S205 on order and have read quite a lot on the US forums about the W/S 205 suffering from excessive wind noise and needing acoustic glass to sort the issue out?

Is this a known problem with European cars and if so does it still affect the new builds - got a build date of September :)

Thanks....

I'm on my 7th W205 and only one of them had an issue with wind noise. From the driver side door seal and to be fair, it was an easy fix

Did they re-do the seal and how long did it take?

They just put an extra strip of the felted type stuff in one spot and it sorted it

Wow wonder why in other cases they have changed the standard glass to acoustic which seems excessive? Will the felt wear in time do you think?:thumb:

That makes me think that there's two different issues. I guess it will wear, but is easily replaced

Well am taking my car into the dealership next week for them to check out the tyres will also mention the wind noise. If they suggest the seal option do you think they will be able to do it while I wait?
