Good Boxing Day Morning to you all,
It is my first post, and if I had hair I would have pulled it out by now
In short, my CLK convertible had a flat battery. So I popped the bonnet and got power to it (mains battery charger) from the terminal for the live and body by the radiator for the earth.
I then went into the vehicle and used the console boot open switch to open the boot, and then charged the battery as normal. This was 2 weeks ago.
On Xmas eve morning I went to collect the family from the shops and realised I couldn’t get the boot to open. No red light on the boot lift button. Button on fob also not working. Pressing the boot key button does nothing. Somehow got them all inside with the shopping. Tight fit and no fun with my wife nagging me all the way home
I got home and looked under the bonnet for the boot lift fuse, but fuse 7 (please correct me if I am wrong) is not blown. So I tried to take the roof back. The windows go down, but the roof button just flashes quickly. The headrests still move up and down.
Thinking about this, i am fairly sure the roof roller cover in the boot is open (for the shopping) so is this going to stop me taking back the roof????????
As for the spare key, the car seems to have the wrong blade key as it neither works on the drivers door or the boot.
Sigh!
So, I cannot get into the boot by any non-destructive means.
So, what I am asking is............................
1) If I get a flat battery, can I jump the car from the front terminal safely?
2) Am I looking at the right fuse in the engine bay for the remote boot open?
3) As there is no way into the boot what are my options ?
4) Am I missing something very obvious here ?
This problem is ruining Christmas for me, as a car with a family of 4 and no boot is no use. Even a large brandy didn't help
Any advice will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance,
