Hi

I've got a transmission oil leak. But it's appearing in the plastic tray under the engine pooling beneath the radiator. It looks like it is coming from under the engine and moving forward and collecting there.

There is no oil leak under the gearbox itself. I am having to top up the gearbox, the engine oil level is not moving, so its definitely the gearbox.

Any ideas?

Thanks for the pointer. How can I check and how do I get at them?

Take the under trays down. Clean the area with solvent and start her up. Watch for the leak.

Many thanks. That was the exact cause. Being relatively new to MB I had no idea the transmission fluid went thought the rad!

Can you let me know how did you replace the pipe and also where did you get the spare from. I am trying to google around and have not found one for my W210 E240 yet

Can't you get one from mb?

In India, it is filthy expensive if i give to an MB service center. I am trying to get the part and do a DIY.

and the MB service center will not sell it for outside work

Hello,

I have just had the same problem you described. My gearbox kept shifting out of gears and when I got home I noticed oil leak. Removed the plastic cover under the car and not only there was oil around the gearbox but lots around the radiator area. Found the pipe going into the side if the radiator to have eroded away. I cannot locate the part number or a supplier for this. Can you please help me with this. Much appreciated.
