Hello, I was going to buy some oil to top up my reservoir (estate model) but then thought about changing it as it has had no genuine B-service...just what I have done myself.

I rang the local stealership that were £2/L cheaper than the local indy, then asked the capacity of the system as I was thinking of replacing the whole lot.

He said 1.2 Litres which I thought to be a little odd as it does the rear suspension as well as the power steering, can anyone confirm this?

Also, is it just a case of sucking out as much from the reservoir as possible or is there a bleed/drain plug?

Lastly, when I do fill it back up will the system bleed itself?

Many thanks in advance for any replies.

mikeyboy, I did exacly that on my 124 230E and and you remind me I must it on my car, now the same as yours I am sure if you vaccum out the reservoir and refill you will change 90% of the fluid it wont need bleeding, obviously do not not run the engine while doing it. I dont know for sure but I think it is pumping round slowly and back to the reservoir or the reservoir oil wouls always look clean and it doesnt.

185k 1998 in taxi dark blue now with blue tint black hammerite wheel arch edges. which will no doubt hold the car together.

Many thanks, Peapod.

I have the arch thing but also the door bottoms have agreed to join the party!

I am still trying to find out the capacity as 1.2L seems a small amount.
