I have a returned after a few years in the wilderness of cheap Jap cars :D

Having recently purchased a W210 E230 Elegance Estate (which is going to be a driving project - as its my daily) I find myself in need of the following

1) Electric mirror switch (which I fear is, for reasons unkown, all 1 unit with the electric window switches....I SO prefer my old W202!)

2) Transmission fluid dip stick....lord knows where its gone, I have a horrible feeling I might have not stuck it back and its now sitting on the road somewhere

Thanks

Iain

Hi Iain,

These cars never came with a gearbox dipstick, so dont worry you havent lost it. You have to buy the dipstick from a dealer or a few places online such as eBay.

Are you planning on changing the ATF?

Learn something new everyday :D Its missing something from the top of the tube, hence worrying! But yes, had intended to do a fluid and filter change (more used to big american boxes which are a lot easier to work on!)

Thanks - had a quick look on E-Bay, had hoped someone might have one without the surround etc (and the one above has more buttons than I have on mine)

The tube should have a black cap on it and a red locking tab. You have PM.

Yours is an E55 so it will have alot more options hence more buttons, being an AMG and top of the range model. You do get some non AMG cars that have all the options and buttons but it all depends on how many boxes were ticked on the options list when the car was first ordered.

Its not hard to fit, although they are fairly rare, they do pop up from time to time. I remember there was one on eBay not too long ago.

It would be a nice mod and complete your list of options!

iain, if you remove the wood, there will be a part number stuck on the window switch block, can you let me have it, as i should have one, dave
