W211 E280 but cannot get phone installed-help!

Having recently purchased a 55reg E280, all was well. I thought as there was a phone connector in the centre console I would buy an e-bay phone cradle for my iphone.
Cradle arrived- I removed the connector cover and clipped the cradle in all looking good- except no phone connection and not even charging- help !
Note: there are two amber LED's in the lower centre compartment where the coiled cables go down from the hinged units- these do not light up.

I went to check the fuse- but can't find what fuse to check - anyone know ?
I don't know if it is a power/ cradle fault/ phone disabled issue ????

Anyone know what fuse number or fuse location that supplies power to the phone system ?

Fuse map should be in the fusebox at the end of the dashboard, under the cover which you can only see if the door is open. I think its drivers end on the W211

What phone cradle are you using ?

Sounds like he got an iphone cradle. Try the cradle in another car to rule out a faulty cradle.

yes I am using an iphone cradle. (3G type)
I have opened the fuse box and checked the existing fuses, but there is no "map" for fuse to function.
I wish to know the fuse number so I can see if it has been removed.
I don't have another Merc, so I can't try the cradle in another car.

My Fone Prep woes

Hi all

I have a similar deal on an 05 W211 E320, have the original cradle etc all fitted, but the coiled cables from the top section just lie loose in the lower one, they are not connected to anything, teach me to buy a viseo BT unit without checking first.

Can anyone tell me what the two coiled cables should be connected to ?

As far as I can tell the two Amber lights are courtesy lights and only work when the main lights are active and the centrebox is opened.
