W211 E55k with 193k - Avoid?

I can guarantee the tax is £270 for that because it is for mine which is a year newer.

As for the car itself - way too over-priced.

For not a lot more, you are into non-moon mileage examples.

At the very best - £5k.

Probably would be going in at £4k for that.

If it runs well, changes smoothly and has no issues currently, it should stand in good stead but ensure the suspension raises and lowers and drive it for a while.

That E55 badge is very annoying like that - and it actually doesn't look like the right 55.

I think that will have been driven full pelt everywhere.

Possibly, it is badged as an E55, unless he just liked to cruise. That said, he does seem to know about the 'amazing grip' his tyres provide, so I think you're probably right lol

Shed alert.

Buy mine, its dearer but you will not have the costs incurred with my car which has had a lot of work done to it. Its newer, half the miles, now spotless and in the real world not much slower, twice as economical and not far off just as refined and probably mine handles better with the suspension mods.

£9500 delivered.

It is a shame that high millage cars are straight away losers in UK.
Still it is a great motor.
Personally I don't mind miles as long as history is there.Sometimes it is enough to chat with the owner and judge if he loves his cars or not (love means care i recon).
Rather buy one owner one with 200K miles then 60K with few owners and no history to it.
Matter of personal choice.

Chances are at that mileage it's been up and down the motorway in top all it's life. Could be a good buy, although agree it needs to be £5k or less.

If you're only doing a couple of k a year........

Years ago my in-laws bought a 2nd hand Toyota Corolla, by default. It turned out to be reliable and so a stream of them followed.
One of them was a later generation car but had a few miles on. This car got passed round virtually the whole family and then sold to one of the Son's girlfriends at about 200k miles, then contact was lost.

Next time it was seen it was sporting 250k miles and still moving. Apparently it had had a clutch...

Not bad for a 1980, 1300cc petrol engined car.

Will a modern Mercedes do as well. Not sure...

Too be honest as least its probably genuine....

Rather than buying a 80K car thats actually on 150k say !!

Millage on my Cdi would not worry me, on that it would...

Does that have airmatic = £1000 a corner, I would be too worried that a small 'fix' could actually almost right the car off.

I also if truth be known get used to 14 to 22 mpg... My old Boss had a E55k Estate and he got high teens a LOT. That would annoy me now... £120 to fill.. even with my 6K a year.

We jump in ours and go where ever we go not even thinking about it, it does 40 plus easy, 95% of the time probably as quick A to B as the E55... Range of 1000 miles (over 700 more likely which is great in Europe for big trips)

The D6 Brabus add more vroom and more MPG...

I think at this price a E320Cdi is a better bet.

If you did really want a petrol some cheap E500 models and they should be cheaper to maintain etc than a E55?

If some one is looking at E55K don't think mpg are very important.
Cdi will never give you V8 rumble sound as well.Far to compare both :)

^ They are if they are looking at a £7k cheap one...

Runing one on a budget not good.

I agree the v8 rumble is great, but I'm happier with the 6 cylinder growl (or rattle)..

:)

I have an E500 estate, and it gives great performance. As said, they are great value for money, and if you haven't driven an E55 for comparison, definitely worth considering.

too much for the milage

E500 has most of the stuff of a E55 - Air Suspension etc. Also you'll only get a couple of extra MPG in the real world (mine averaged nearly 20).

Mine is typically at 16mpg > 18mpg, but it costs me £100 with 99RON Momentum every 7 or 8 working days - which results in £250 a month on average - with around 8000 miles per year.

Half the price of my train ticket to London...

^ what size tank is it?

Mine is the long range and over £100 easily from empty.

Cheaper than the train it fuel is cool....however runing costs, service, parts, insurance, tax and deprecaition isn't factored into that price.

Either way as a 3rd car I can see me having something like this (but it would be a convertible), one day :)

Not sure on tank size but I fill up with about 30/40 mile range left and 99RON is £1.38 per litre?

The other half of my train ticket pays for the other costs (maybe not exactly but £5k is a lot of money!)...

I guarantee my journey to work is a lot more fun... :bannana:

I'd always say do it if you can.
