Well done Sve. You are the first I have read about that has actually found where to get this and followed it through.
Are you getting Terry at Wayne Gates to fit it?

Oh wow, I'm a bit surprised given the number of threads discussing this particular problem.

Yes, Terry will code and fit it. Will give him a call tomorrow to schedule it as soon as possible.

Nice one dude. The suspense is building up now....Yes, this is a hot topic at the moment for many members...Much respect to you for doing this.

Thats quick...Terry is generally booked for a week in advance!

Good luck and i am sure you wil be fine and finally solved this greatest Puzzle of SBC (its only 250 cheaper but its cheaper none the less)

Took the car to Terry today, 40 minutes drive without the brakes in a rainy day was a challenge but got there at the end.

I sincerely hope my next post will be when I get the car with SBC fixed!

Fingers crossed everything will be ok.

Saw your car today mate, Terry was saying he will get it done tomorrow!

Hehe, thanks Amo!

I got a call from him yesterday saying there is only Bosch number on the pump which is different from the one I had on mine. Before I buy the pump I sent the shop my numbers and they confirmed it will fit.

Praying .... and waiting for the good news today!

SBC pump recall

Took my recently purchased E55k , to my local indy and he gave it the thumbs up , apart from the SBC pump , he said it it is the original pump and should have been changed on a recall , he also said it is free of charge , even though it is a 2004 model , car has a full MB service history and only covered 80k , but i am bit dubious about a MB dealer commencing work F-O-C on a car more than 10 years old.

The recall was to check the pump and replace if necessary NOT to just replace it, details here...

Recall Details for MERCEDES BENZ - E CLASS AND SL CLASS

Unless the owner at the time was an idiot, or untraceable, it's safe to assume the car was been checked and found to be fine.

thanks for clarifying that , will contact the mercedes dealer who has serviced the car from new , presumably they will have a record of the check/recall

SBC pump on 80K car should be fine. This obviously isnt directly co-related to mileage as its based on pump actuation...if you live in busy town then you will use brakes alot more than countryside.

Your mechanic should be able to check pump count with STAR in Developer mode (IIRC) which should tell you how much you have used!

With a huge smile on my face I'm very delighted to say that my car is now fixed! Got a call from Terry this morning and immediately went to pick it up - wow it felt like it has been ages since I drove it. Actually it's been around 45 days since I stopped driving the car (crying).

Kudos! to Terry for his work and being able to fit my car in this busy week just before the bank holiday weekend. He even spend some more time testing the car to make sure it won't fail right after.

I'll summarize the details in another post over the weekend for any future reference!

Thank you all for the support!

p.s. I can barely hear the pump and there is a huge difference compared with before.

p.p.s. It's a huge relief to know that SBC won't fail and you don't have to think about that. I knew for the problem before I buy the car and the feeling of waiting to fail was really dreadful. The very thought of that happening was my worst nightmare. NOW - the happiest owner of E320!! :)

Fantastic news mate, very well done. Just makes me want to get mine done now. What was the total cost of the repair please?

^ Good news Sve. Glad its finally over and you have your car back again.
Thanks to you, members now have an alternative to placing the car at a dealer and being charged extra. It may not be a huge saving, but its cheaper non the less.
