Another common one apparently...and was just going to let the garage sort this out but now I'm in the DIY mood thought I'd look into doing this myself too...
From what I've gathered....
Its some sort of electrical connector on the side of the gearbox that leaks...not a particulaly expensive part at around £75 but what goes that makes it leak? Is there another large o-ring...can this be replaced or do you have to replace the hole plug?
Also, how do you check the gearbox oil level after to top up...doubt its lost a lot as just a small drip..
I did an audi auto and there are two screw plugs, one to drain(sump plug), one to fill..and you just fill until fluid come out...then start the car, go through all gears and repeat fill till it comes out.
For the merc it looks like you have to buy a special dip stick?? Is this right?
Looked on my Auto Data but no info just how much it takes..not much use if your topping up...
