Has any member actually fitted one of these mythical bodykits (a real WALD kit, not the flimsy fake ones I hear of on other sites), or know anyone who has actually fitted one, to a W124?

WALD stuff looks amazing on their website, but is the reality as good as the image/hype/pics suggest?

It's a big risk spending over £1k to buy one from Japan, only to end up disappointed.

Over 1k you`ll get a good used AMG genII one from Japan, why bother with wald?

I think the Wald EX looks better on the 124 then the Wald V4.
Wald kits are a bit flimsy compared to a genuine AMG kit :thumb:

liiiive 0 did say its an original kit as i remember him saying it cost him around a grand

That does not make it original,an original one will come from Japan

A member here did it to his w124 coupe

pics and for sale stuff here

Not really impressed by the look of that one. Also, not sure it is an original WALD kit as the UK price for WALD kits is well over £2k. Only way an original WALD kit can be had for £1k is if the buyer has a contact in Japan (which is how I would get mine - Japanese friend would buy it from WALD Japan, have it delivered to his address in Japan, then ship to me in the UK).

Real WALD kit from the UK distributor is well over £2k.

I know because I have enquired.

If I get a WALD kit I will ask my friend in Japan to buy it over there and then ship it to me privately.

I have a WALD kit for a W202 bought from a fellow member on here for alot less than the 2K price tag. It has never been fitted and is brand new. IMHO it doesnt seem any less flimsy than a normal bumper....

Is that based on experience or assumption?

Experience...:thumb:

Some of the front and rear Wald aero bumpers are overlays.
They are expensive, last price delivered to the USA from Japan was about 1100 sterling.

Best to contact the exclusive U.K. importer and see for yourself..

Below is the packing spec for the C124 Wald V4 kit.
I doubt that you will save anything by importing yourself.
It must be shipped airfreight and due to the size it is calculated as "dimensional" weight.

1. Front and Rear Bumpers 300 cm x 80 cm x 80 cm
(118.10" X 31.50 X" 31.50")
2. 2 pieces, Side step 300 cm x 80 cm x 80 cm
(118.10" X 31.50 X" 31.50")
3. OPTION FOG LAMP TYPE 3 Unknown but it is small.
Option Fog lamp type 3 will be enclosed in a small extra box, but it might be able to enclose in either 2 large boxes.

Remember the exclusive importer is shipping perhaps a container via ocean freight, doing the customs clearance and paying the import tariff.
The freight and import cost is then spread out over many units.

How does it mount?
Compare it side by side with an AMG kit.
The AMG kit has the same mounting and impact/collision protection as the stock bumper.
You pull the stock bumper off and replace it with anything other then AMG and you lose a great deal of collision protection.
That's why some aero kits are overlays that utilize the OEM structural components.

The front bumper uses the OEM brackets at the front, the rear bumper will probably need extra holes to mount it properly.
