Wanted Merc Cosworth or R129 500SL

the silver one might have had promise but it looked like the photos were taken using a 1 megapixel phone camera, perhaps in a bid to disguise the surrounding gypsy camp.

:D

Was thinking the exact same.

The wheels were replicas.

That car didnt attract me either. In fact none of the ones you linked looked positive.

The green one looked the best but... it was green.

The phrase "there is nothing more expensive than a cheap mercedes" is particularly apt here.

Choose very carefully.

The silver one is probably taken on the guys off road training school land unless he is also a gipsy of course.
The green one did look nice and probably realistic price.
I don't mind green too much. A lot of silver out there so a bit different?

That is very nice indeed .. Seems good value for condition and miles.

I do like almandine I must admit

same car as the one on ebay plenty of rust and previous paint, not much history/mot to back miles.but all depends on what you want out of it to be honest

Seller has said 10 stamps in the service book. Mot history going back 7 years. No rust. Sounds like no receipts.

I have been looking at a lot of stuff on SLs on you tube which has been getting me juiced.

Make sure to check the service history books engine number and vin number against the car, also make sure the history ties in with the mots, there will be rust mate ask for close up pics of the usual areas as your travelling such a distance

I get the feeling that one could be a peach.

im seriously thinking about calling the guy for a viewing. buy it with the resto money i have saved for my current one then sell the one i already have as i have a feeling i would save money in the long run.:dk:

Its been for sale a long time so not going to rush it. It pushes some buttons but I don't get a great feel.
Normally I know when I find the right car as strange as it sounds.

I am in no rush ... Longer the better as I will have more clarity on my employment position (taken redundancy end of June)

Makes sense to me. I got shot of my Range Rover for a better one for that reason.

Wow, very detailed and thorough inspection required so if that's the sole reason for purchase. I do think if I was in your position and your current car is half decent, the devil you know is better than the one you don't...
