Wanted Merc Cosworth or R129 500SL

There's a spares or repair late SL500 on ebay at the moment that looks interesting.

It looks like the aftermath of a woman scorned and has been daubed with paint stripper.

Last I checked it was at £300 so could be a bargain once you factor in a full respray.

Whats expensive on one? I have rarely come across anything too pricey on a Merc.

I should add (was tired when replied) I meant on the older cars. I know more recent ones have stupid prices on some things.
Also even on the older cars parts I agree they can be high but I enjoy the hunt for good quality used if needed or ebay etc. Its amazing what you can find the parts for if you spend some time looking.

Also any other interesting cars. There is a CL600 that looks nice but needs a nice oil cooler. Tempting but not sure whats involved in a new oil cooler as it sounds complex?

No mention of mileage in the ad, but the (rather small) picture seems to show >111k miles? Also doesn't say when the current owner got it, i.e. how long it was in storage for and how it's been driven since he got it.

Agree - I am assuming the worse ie since 2008 until a few months ago.
Anything better is a bonus.
I have put an offer in but I think the price is not that unusual. Another silver with black leather and 109k miles sold for 3,200 recently and it had paperwork/stamped history. So fingers crossed. If not this one then another.
Would like this though.

nice one a good r129 is a swee ride. just make sure to keep on top of the paint otherwise it will end up like this
