You're missing a vital point though. People can express personal opinions and personal experiences without reverting to bullying or bashing. Unfortunately, when it comes to talking about the police force, it very quickly ends up in bullying, bashing and acrimonious debate.

I have not seen anyone argue against polite, constructive debate on matters of justice and policing.

How? When has a member of the police on here been personally attacked? There industry has a whole yes, but not them themselves. Certain folk seem to get very precious as soon as a bad thing is said about the police, despite them not being police officers.

There certainly have been cases of individual and personal attacks, fairly recently too. I'm not going to open those threads again by posting links here, but can PM you an example if you like.

But you also missed the point. It's all too easy to avoid naming an individual and then hiding behind that "generality" to go on and bash and bruise "the police" in order to inflict damage or bully certain members into silence. That is not polite debate by any means and certainly is no constructive discussion.

What are you hoping to achieve by raking the same issue up again? This is just going round in circles. Dieselman offered a very good summary of the situation earlier in the discussion. I am biased am I, why then? What would make me bias? I can't recall any specific targetting of a police member but PM me one (of me or anyone else doing the same).

You mention police bashing in general and that could deter certain members from posting. Ask yourself why that industry is bashed more than any other? Maybe because more people are discontented with that than any other?

I would add that if people slated financial services etc and its related problems (of which there are many) it wouldn't deter me from posting, so why should it deter them?

The word bias was used in dieselmans post, you said it was a good summary of the situation. Hence I posted what I post. Not trolling. I edited the rest of my previous post, read it if you want, reply if you want.

Genuine question here..... I have followed this post from a morbid curiosity and can't understand why it is being allowed to run when it seems to be so far off the original posters topic.
Donza got fined for speeding and was a bit upset. He vented his spleen (wonderful expression ) as is his right to do. Perhaps he expected some sympathy (he certainly has mine) but it does not appear that he was starting what has become a very political thread.
As the reference to the forum rules has been made several times I was curious as to why it is being allowed to run instead of being locked or shifted to a more appropriate thread. Mods feel free to PM me if you do not wish to post a reply.

Is this the new way that if someone does anything wrong on the roads, and posts it up here they get a hard time from others. All the guy did was moan re the offence and he got cought, big deal. Many would do the same.

its not about that. Its about the fact that when someone posts up something that points out maybe he should put it down to one of those things and get on with, he doesn't. He goes on about how hard done by he is, and the rest of us are police supporters at the expense of freedom.

Then to make matters worse, he then suggests the forum should close this thread as people have either taken a differing view, or taken it off topic. something he has already said he didn't like when we all felt something else was wrong.

either he wants what we all want. or he doesn't. But he can't have it both ways.

If he comes on here and makes a post, its fair game that someone will either point out the bits he missed. or offer a different opinion.

If he does not want a different opinion. or can't cope with a different view and some advice as to how to cope in the future, then don't post in the first place.

He seems to moan at everything and seems to be unreasonably hard done by over everything he does. Including buying cars, driving them and posting on here.

I am not convinced he is as genuine as the majority of the rest of us.
