This time...But my wife has hit a kerb again!

I'm conscious when the garage was trying to sell me the alloy wheel cover, they advised the wheel would be replaced rather than repaired because it's diamond cut.

What's the verdict; repairable or replace?

That tiny little scuff ?

Repair

Leave it, get it done after the winter months...

or ban the wife from the car.

If it's gone through the laquer to the alloy beneath (difficult to tell from the photo), then rough it up a bit with some fine wet and dry paper, then paint over it with some clear laquer. That will stop it corroding and lifting the rest of the laquer, and you can get it repaired at your leisure.

It goes further around the wheel. She's damaged at least two of the spokes.

At least it was 6 months after ownership and not two days like my A4. In fact she hit the same kerb the third day and damaged both wheels!!

So will her birthday/Xmas present be driving lessons?:eek:

Replace. Lots more wives around.
here hee!

repair, but realise as it's diamond cut, it can only be done once or twice possibly. It has to be skimmed on a lathe. Very stupid wheels (I know I have them and had the same issue).Would get it done before winter as you won't be able to do very much to avoid the inevitable corrosion.
Going further if I ever had these again (I pray not), I would immediately have them refinished on the rim with powder coat or paint when new. OK the diamond finish looks bling, but only when the car is spotless clean...otherwise looks like any other alloy really

Sorry it is time to ditch the wife. Clearly she is a liability.

The wheel had a slight scuff before I bought it so the garage buffed it out. There was a slight discolouration but not really that noticeable. Looking at the damage, it's over the same location and beyond!

I need to find a good repair centre around Reading.

Well that's the price to pay for having a curby wife (pun intended). Which is why we have two cars. But it still pains me to see the wheel suffer... not to mention the rubber.... ouch.
