What do you want to know?

I'll be going to Croatia on global training on Monday to drive the C63 Coupe, SL, SLC and E Class. I'll also be viewing the new C Cab. If anyone has any specific questions, just let me know. I'll put some pictures up after

Training at Mercedes is a hard slog isn't it!

I'm sure I'll enjoy fitting a kitchen JUST as much as James will enjoy his hard slog driving those Merc and staying in top hotels.

What engines will be available to the UK market in the New E class please.

I'm interested what engines we'll get other than 220d and 350d.

I know there will be an E43 AMG but will there be any other petrol engined options? E200, E400 maybe?

Long term, not just the two available at launch.

Are you considering a new E Class estate replacement? I know you like your current E.

Does the new shape float ya boat?

Ant.

Yeah we like our E a lot it's going to be very difficult car to replace with anything other than another E. We're 18 months away from changing so we'll be well into the new model.

The E43 AMG 4matic sounds nice but we have another car with a perfomance engine it would make more sense to have an E200 petrol or similar for a daily driver for pottering around.

I'm all over the place with it at the moment looking at anything from keeping our existing car as there's nothing wrong with it (other than being diesel) or a new E Estate or even a Porsche Cayenne GTS.

It might be determined by our housing situation, if we've found a plot and are into a build then economics would probably suggest we keep what he have as the house would be more important.

Do you know roughly when the C cab will be launched in the UK?

I remember well these little launch jollies abroad (Seville sticks very much in mind.. :)) from my time at Ford. Have fun!!!

By the way, I have to ask this.. do you know the real reason MB (and others) are fitting these vanity panels to the rear bumpers of cars with fake exhaust tips inset?

The other day I looked at a diesel powered new C (and GLA) and found the fancy chrome tips were blanked off and one pea-shooter exhaust hidden away under the bumper! Will look very convincing on a cold day.. LOL!

The C300 petrol I looked at had real pipes but they were small and not attached to the tips! Again,

Is it to save money or some other strange reason? Personally I think it looks soooo KIA and not what you expect of a premium car!

Hi JBD, my Mercedes me seems to be playing up at the moment, it last updated 16 days ago and won't refresh. I could have done with the remote unlock feature working earlier today as my wife managed to lock herself out :fail

Anyway, I was going to phone the service desk on Monday but I was wondering whether you know if there's a way of forcing it to refresh?

Also, is my car (MY15 CLS) capable of receiving remote map updates? Can't find an option in the app so assuming not? Is there an update available to enable that feature i.e. similar to Apple CarPlay?

Thanks!

W205 C-Class 4Matic UK Release

Hi JBD,

Aside from the upcoming C450/C43 AMG models with 4Matic, do you know if there will be any other 6 cylinder/4Matic options for the C-Class available anytime soon in the UK?

When BMW and Audi already offer mid-size saloon/estate models with 6 cylinder engines and all-wheel drive in the UK, how much longer will we have to wait for a suitable Mercedes that fits the bill?

Thanks, Mark :)

Not directly related, but I'd like to know if existing cars with the prerequisites of 360 camera, auto, keyless such as the latest C Class - will have a software upgrade at somepoint to allow 'Remote Parking Pilot' via mobile phone?

Yes, they should be, but there's nothing confirmed date wise currently. A lot of these functions aren't available in the uk anyway currently

Hi,

Connect me is pretty much down at the moment across the board, big issues. The updates are manual only and apple car play can't currently be retrofitted, sorry I can't be of any more help

The idea is for 4matic to be launched across the range. There is a model year change coming from June production, which we should know about by the end of the month

I'm sure it's cost. They can just replace the bumper without needing to replace to exhaust too in minor accidents/bumps

Sounds serious. Don't suppose you know whether the issue is being tracked as part of a master ticket do you? I'd be interested to follow any progress. Also, has any official communication gone out to clients?
