Getting the car ready for next month's adventure in France.

Yesterday I treated mine to a coat of Autoglym Super Resin polish. Which then reminded me of Mactech's recent post about adding a layer of Gloss Protection...........what's been seen can't be unseen. Went to the shed this morning and found a bottle. It's going on today.

Also I've just booked an air con re-gas and anti bacterial treatment from ATS (as on the Groupon thread).

(Next I'll be booking the car into the local garage to have the ball joints & bushes looked at - expecting to be replacing one of two lower arms. I can hear some clicking and clonking from the front corners).

Yesterday I cleaned and coated the exhaust tips. Today I cleaned the engine bay (see my thread in detailing for pics).

Yeah but..................you didn't tell us how.;)
Have now - posted a reply to another member in that thread with the lowdown. Enjoy!

Drove 160 miles from South Wales to Reading for our halfway stop ahead of Goodwood FOS tommorow.
Impressed with the indicated avg. 54.5 MPG @70mph on the way down. Amazing for a 3 litre lump!

Driven to the shops and back

Put some seafoam into the fuel tank and upgraded to led interior bulbs

Checked it was still parked on the drive after 2 weeks away !

Do tell... How do you find it? And what kind of gains?

280hp/650Nm... EGR disabled... something (do not ask what) done to transmission shift program...

First experiences: huge difference in shift quality! Lag almost gone, upshifts done efficient feeling even at 50% acceleration but full throttle feels like spot on...
0-100km/h pull hard to say because problems with friction anyway, but flooring initially from aroud 80-100km/h, clear power increase

Got the overalls on and the toolbox out and gave the old bus a basic service this weekend ...

1. Changed the oil.
Used my suction pump for the second time to drain the sump.
It worked a treat ... Not a drop spilt.
Refilled with oil from ECP ... [ECP Pt.No: 521 77 6061 ... TRIPLE QX Fully-synth (Low Ash)]
Replaced oil filter ... [ECP Pt.No: 501 22 0288 - Crosland]

2. Replaced both air filters
What a P.I.A. job this is !!
Whoever designed this one has much to answer for !
Lessons in foul language for the near-neighbours.
[Air filter pack of 2 pieces ... ECP Pt.No: 502 22 1058 - Crosland]

3. Replaced the cabin/pollen filter.
This is the easy one to change.
[ECP Pt.No: 507 22 0358].

4. General safety check / belt / fluid levels / safety items.
I'm due a new set of tyres soon.
Will get the alloys refinished at the same time.
Otherwise .... all appears to be well.

Had the a/c re-gassed at ATS and doubled the refrigerant.

Very happy at the result.

Might just go an sit in it for a while.

It's roasting in my house at 6,45 pm - hot and very humid.

Driven it

gave her a wash and aqua wax layer after a nice trip to the peak district, where I got to test the brakes after some slightly careless prson decided to do an overtake before a blind corner... I was accelerating to the speed limit up an incline to enjoy the bend which had no oncoming vehicle only to find an oncoming car hogging my lane further up

I've been in East Sussex for three days and didn't get a chance to wash the car before I left. Looking at the brake dust encrusted wheels was doing my head in so I sneaked off to the local (touchless) car wash earlier. And finally cleaned the inside of the windscreen properly. Aaaaaaannnnndd......relax.

Edit; about 15 miles from home there was a ginormous CRACK noise. Windscreen hit dead centre by a very large stone. Shuffles off to find insurance docs and book a session in at Autoglass.....
