What Have You Done To Your Merc Today?

We managed 7.3 MPG yesterday which is by far the worst we have ever managed in normal use. To be fair the engine was idling a lot. I got something similar bad once when traveling in very heavy snow, when it took me many many hours to get home from work in my C 32z

This was the exact opposite and very very very deliberate ;)

Better late then never ey 😂. I'm guessing it didn't stop you driving your car while waiting for doe the part?
It could still be driven but not ideal, so have only driven it periodically. I don’t like a car to stand too long, cars like to be used.

What part were you waiting on then? Why on earth was yours that long, given what you said about my car I'm to assume yours it's either very brand new or quite old?

It’s a transmission mount. I will probably never know why it has taken so long however my hunch is that it is an updated part as it’s a relatively common failure in that model, and so will have been respecified, retooled, retested, restocked, etc.

Extended my paddle shifters so I can actually use them with my hands where they usually are on the wheel...

Changed the grille from a boy racer GT style one... to a genuine (but used) MB one.... much better imo.....simplest job ever...... took 5 whole minutes!

That’s better.
Now the car would very much be improved with a set of silver or gun metal wheels.
As mentioned above, some cars suit the panamericana grille and some don’t. The same goes for black wheels.

FWIW, IMO the paddle extension's above are quite chavvy, but I suppose they are subtle.

They are for a purpose.....at least they are not anodised some hideous colour like blue of red like many on sale! I like the black wheels now ......goes with the tints etc.....but Im going to liven them up with the carbon brake mimicking orange metallic/copper coloured paint on the calipers. Could do with a pair of front discs soon so they might wait until then.

Had the high beam bulbs changed at Halfords as one had blown.

Glad I did - nightmare with earthing and the clips.

All working now though.

Looked at replacing it

Looks great but I think it would look even better with an upright star on bonnet rather than 2 similar badges next to each other. Just my opinion though.

We had a wonderful day. Bright blue skies, beautiful autumn tones, and out and about in what used to be our family car until 10 years ago - best of all we did it with our children in the back.

Now that they’re both young adults it’s rare to have them both with us in the car, especially this car as it’s retired from active service, so it was a real privilege to have the whole band back together.

It reminded us of the many miles we did whizzing up and down to Devon, Cornwall, South of France and Italy. We did all sorts in this car and it’s filled with love and happy memories.

It’s possibly also the best car in the world. Ever.

I don't like them at all... never have... so old fashioned..... and I thought you had to be at least 90 to legally have one on your car!!!😀
