Replaced the sun visor trim covers again…
I replaced the broken ones with genuine MB ones 2 years ago , these have now split and look tatty , decided to try the Octoclassic ones , they arrived promptly from Poland and look good , had to do a small bit of fettling to align the screw holes but it all looks original , hope they last longer than the MB ones…

Over the past week I've treated all the rubber seals with Gummi Pflege and today I gave the seats a good clean and feed using Gliptone's cleaner and conditioner

Any thing has got to help . I use silicone grease on them occasionally

My car came with AMG mats. After over 11 years the "AMG" logos are looking very grubby and impossible to clean up nicely. These mats are no longer available and I really want to keep the car as original as I can. So I bought some embroidered patches to replace the grubby ones. Took a while to remove the old patches but worth the effort I think (I do have OCD!). Don't look half bad for 11 year old mats now.

To be honest my cars only 6 years old and all the rubber feels supple and looks like new so this was just done to hopefully keep it that way, same goes for the leather, do it before its cracked and dried out is the way to go

Same age as my e350 and I've been using Lidl silicone sprays the last 3 years , I just keep reading about this gummi pfledge.

Couple of small jobs today. First was to replace the passenger side air intake hose. A very, very common fail on this model due to poor construction. A taped up hose is absolutely fine and does the job perfectly, but a new one looks better, a simple job to replace though.

Second job was to replace the Drivers side B Pillar trim. Yet another common fail on Mercs (and many other models). The top coat / lacquer wears away over time, possibly due to weathering and cleaning. A very simple job to replace and took around 2 mins. The new one looks much better and another option that looks equally as good is to just cover the original faded section with vinyl.

Car is also cleaned again and looking sharp….

Fitted this to the ML. Pioneer SPH 360 DAB and a fitting kit from Dynamic Sounds. Really good, fitting kit meant no wires cut and most of the steering wheel buttons still work (can't answer or hang up a call mind, but it has a voice control button on the unit itself so no great shakes). Really good plug and play solution, really intuitive and Android Auto works fab. But......do at your peril as getting the glove box, A pillar covers etc off and on properly to place the mic, antenna and GPS unit was an utter pain in the behind!! That said, I am thinking of doing one on the SLK as the benefit is massive in terms of connectivity, legality and really decent quality for a (for what it is/you get tech wise in an older car) modest price

Changed the hydraulic fluid in the 129 roof. Cleaned out the reservoir and flushed the system through a few times. Quite a bit of “sludge” in the reservoir too. All working nicely still.

Doesn't look like either front or rear caliper for a 212 from what I remember.
I'm guessing something with an M177 engine.

That’s the rear as it has air suspension and you can see the exhaust, and the carpeted liner.

I’ve never had an AMG, the only thing I was going on was the side skirt looks very similar to mine on a W212 (pre-FL)

I drove one for 4 hours and 4 minutes covering 230 miles at 21.6 MPG. It was detailed hours before we departed and it’s now absolutely covered in flies - I’ve never seen so many in the headlights as tonight.

The last few miles were on some of my favourite winding roads, and to my delight a stretch had been freshly resurfaced and the quality was absolutely superb - the best I’ve seen on any road anywhere.

The journey was pretty good, the motorway services were absolutely blooming awful, even the much praised Gloucester services. It wasn’t busy but the queues were huge, they had hardly any food, oh and it was filthy.

We aborted after waiting 30 minutes and nipped into the next services, and that was even worse. Absolutely shockingly slow service, awfully expensive and terrible apart from the lad who made our Frappuccinos.

I dread to think what it will be like in a couple of weeks when the whole of the UK is going somewhere at the same time!

Jet washed the rear wheel arches on my W212, then sprayed Lanoguard all over the subframe in preparation for some winter protection and preservation of the under coach.

It’s arriving today but I’ll not have time to give it a go until the weekend. Be interesting to see how good they clean up for both of us.

Did daughters headlights this afternoon with the Holts Kit. VERY messy job but astonished at just how well they look. As good as a new unit I’d say.

So good that I’ve ordered another one for the rear units as they’re a little faded too.

After my steerng lock going tits up IN THE LOCK POSITION, and having to remove whole steering column, modules, then grind out the faulty steering lock module. Done my back in lifting a toolbox that no one human being should ever attempt to lift. The whole re-assembly of steering column and new modules fitted were put on hold. Managed to get everything finished today including a pain in the ass ABS fault which was quite annoying because of actual faulty brand new sensors ! My day was finished off with chucking all the undertrays on and emtying the interior of any sign of any work that has taken place ! No more ABS light, a steering lock simulator module fitted and also a new spare key on the way. Quite a productive day. MOT tomorrow so the proof of all the hard work will be in the pudding as they say.. Anyone with a C class Ide advise getting steering lock simulator fitted whilst its easy to do when its in the unlocked state. It is a complete ballache when it packs in and steering lock is stuck on and engine start is disabled because of it. Ok rant over......
