What Have You Done To Your Merc Today?

Someone very close to me let me use her M157 equipped car a few times just recently - each time in awful conditions - and most recently (today) it performed beautifully. It was a pleasure to gently hustle along a few of my favourite roads.
I would have hated it if it still had the P Zero's on fortunately these were swapped out for some PS4S's last month and the car has performed fantastically so far other than the AMG fuel filler cap these have been the best money I've spent on it to date, almost like mapping the car as I'm able to start using the car and it's power in all weather conditions and not just the bone dry

Ironically the car I’ve been using has Pirelli PZero fitted, having had the PS4S removed due to tread blocks peeling! Felt good on the PZero though.

Just ordered engine and transmission mounts for my W221. Will be fitted by my local MB Specialist (Mertec). Total cost to me will be £602. MB Main Dealer quote = more than £1,300

Ordered a litre of Fricofrin DP coolant from Opie to top the system up when I change the thermostat and auxilary water pump. A little job for when this bloody arthritis gives me a break :dk: :dk: :dk:

Serviced the car and started the process of swapping out the rear seats for split folding 😊

Looked at the bird crap on the roof and thought it needs cleaning, but too ill to do it.😔

Bought a new (used) Air Box for W212 OM651.

Always annoyed me that when we started servicing these ourselves (stopped using Main Dealer) there was a 1 screw missing from the air box.

Sorted now. :)

I'm after one of these too. Came to change my air filter and found the previous Indie had drilled the middle out of one of the bolts!! Its now got one bolt missing.....where did you find yours?? Thanks John

Ordered a new thermostat and housing (Wahler) to change when I do the auxiliary pump.

I safeguarded the SL and the W205 today by replacing the rubber seal at the bottom on the garage door :D

There was about four inches missing on one side, chewed away by an evil rodent some time before we moved in. I had a brick placed inside to block the gap as best I could, but was never very happy with this arrangement . We have Hörmann sectional doors and you can't just slide a new seal in from the side as you do with most other makes ... I'd not managed to find a manual or video anywhere, so had been putting this off for some time. You do have to remove the bottom runner each side (which the counterbalance springs are attached to) from the door, but in the event it wasn't too bad. Now I know what to do it'd be a 10 minute job at most if/when the other one needs replacing :)

Driven back from one of my favourite restaurants, 264 miles in 5h 31m at an average speed of 47 mph and at 23.2 mpg.

Possibly the best ever mpg in that car, helped by setting off after 2000, and traveling more sedately than usual having Junior D’s boyfriend slipstreaming in my wake 😁

Fwiw if I'm going to eat out I'd far prefer to travel a bit, than just eat somewhere convenient.
But a five and a half hour drive,? for a meal??

That must be something very special indeed....

In light aviation there's an old expression "getting a hundred dollar hamburger" (taking a joyride to another airfield and back for something to eat). It needs updating as the cost would be considerably more nowadays :D

To be fair it used to take us just over three hours at that time of night, but moving further away, two full road closures on the route, having to stop twice because Gordano services couldn’t sell me a coffee* and having my daughters boyfriend following all stretched the journey.

* Welcome Break Gordano services have a Starbucks, a Starbucks drive thru, 3x Starbucks vending machines in WH Smith’s, 2x Starbucks vending machines in Waitrose, and 2x Starbucks vending machines in the petrol station, but still couldn’t actually sell me a coffee!!

Had a look inside the old auxiliary pump

Got shown a very clean pair of heals by a Taycan eTurbo on a quiet motorway on the way to Cosford today.

When you're doing seventy right behind it, traffic moves over and it just pulls one like you're stood still, it's a thing to behold.

I didn't embarrass myself and try anything but gawp at the gap it put between us for 10 secs or so.

Picked one up from the main dealer after dropping it off 16 weeks and 1 day ago.

Not a great customer experience umpteen ways, but I’m not mentioning it to moan (so I won’t comment further), but I am posting to celebrate having it home again.

As another celebration I went to the chip shop in it, and went the long way round.

I am nothing if not rock & roll. Proper baller me.

Ooooh booked another one in for a service. I checked and I had used the last service on servicecare plan.

Fell nicely because the last one was a biggie (spark plugs, ATR, and much more) and this service is a straight B-service.

So I’ve booked and paid for this service, then I’ll probably put it back on a servicecare plan for next year.
