Hello,

I have a 2003 CLK 320 w209 and it has really embarrassing creaking noises.

It only happens badly if the front end goes almost straight up and down such as over very harsh speed humps. It can be heard inside the cabin and outside, with the windows down.

I can replicate it by bouncing the front up and down, pressing on either of the front wings.

The springs look all right, no rust and not broken so from what I read on the forums it sounds like it may be worn bushes.

Can anybody provide a list of all of the bushes etc that can cause this?

Thanks a million in advance :bannana:

That sounds more like springs to me. They break at the very bottom and its hard to tell sometimes. Try taking the car to an indy to check properly.

Anti roll bar bushes
try spraying some silicon oil on them and see it that improves matters.
If it goes away could be a short term fix until you get them changed

Good tip regarding the bushes. I sprayed mine with white lithium grease and it stopped them squeaking for a 2 days but it was enough to tell me what needed replacing. Definitely worth ago.

+ 1 Anti roll bushes or links. Over speed bumps creaks and hearing it from the inside is a tell tell sign. I've had to replace them twice on my W221! First at 30kmiles , second at 80kmiles. Humps and pot-holes around london don't help even though I try to go slow as possible. Real PITA!!

A nice cheap part though. I have a few creaks going on at the rear and at £25/labour they are worth a shot and probably worth doing on a 5 year old vehicle anyway despite only covering 27,000miles.
