Which Engine Oil?

It won't do any harm but Helix ECT C3 is not the version I would choose for a C180K because it's based on ACEA C3 which makes it a mid saps oil intended for diesels with particulate filters. The original spec for a C180K was 229.3 or 229.5 which are based on ACEA A3/B4 making it a stouter oil with higher HTHS. I use the standard Helix Ultra in a 5W40.

Naaa , absolutely fine , actually small oil performance perameter gains in certain areas and no performance loss regarding HTHS .

Indeed MB Temple Fortune used Shell Helix Ultra 5W40 229.5 on my W203 C180K with the M271 engine at the time.

You can buy 20l of genuine MB 229.51 oil on ebay for less than that.

I just go to Opie Oils and add reg or model and it gives you the oils selection for your car

Before i used motul xcess 8100 0W40
After when i changed to petronas syntium 7000 with same vescosity i noticed that oil temperature going down by 2-3 degree.

The two oils may have been in the same nominal viscosity bands but that doesn't mean they are the exact same viscosity. One could have been at the thin end and the other at the thicker end. HTHS could also be different which is the most likely reason for a lower oil temperature as that determines the real working viscosity in the crank bearings .

Just choos an oil ... then go to the web site, pump in you make and model they will tell you what oil you want ,Any way if you have the service records just look inside it will tell you what the service guy filled the engine with .

Yep Opie Oils for me. They really know their stuff. Been using them for years. And you get a handle little pack for checking your oil level

handles are handy .

Whats the handle for ?
Ha ha darn spell check! Meant handy of course! Though a handle for the pack itself would be handy to facilitate removal of said pack from ones glove box.
