Hi folks
I have recently noticed the coolant temperature in instrument cluster reading quite low at 70c,having checked the corresponding sensor on engine with a infa red thermometer I got a reading off 102c.
Is it a difficult job to replace the sensor and should I replace both ecu/instrument...
Folks
There are various threads around just now that ask about coolant temps and what should be expected. I have a very personal interest in this subject, so thought it may help if we had a thread where people could ask general questions without being tied to a specific model and risking a...
I have had a leak on my E250 saloon 2009 for a while.
The car has not been driven since the leak discovered.
Can anyone tell me the path that coolant liquid takes after you put some into the expansion tank. Within a minute or so it's pissing out from under the the engine somewhere. What could...

Hi all
My drive back from work today I got this telling me to top up the coolant level
Forgive me for sounding daft but do I just top it up with tap water or do I have to use deionized water?
Only just got it back after having the sensor and thermostat replaced on the coolant...
Out in the car today and this warning flashed up with a ping sound as well. Pulled over for 20 mins with the fan going crazy, crawled home but temperature was fluctuating between 80 and 120.
Cars been parked for half hour now and still the fan is going, can't work out how it's got so high as I...
Last week I stuck in queuing traffic on one of those hot days here in Scotland.
Outside temp was 32c and had my AC on. Wasn't long before I had a low coolant warning and some steam from the engine. Soon I was out of coolant and had to pull over due to steam. Recovered by green flag. I drive a...

Hi Guys,
A friend of mine is looking at buying a C220 and has recently test drove one he likes. However, he was concerned about oil/coolant temps?
Does anyone have a rough idea of what he should expect? I suggested around 80 degrees for coolant and maybe 90-100 for the oil?
Any...
Hello
The 'check coolant level' light came on earlier a few miles from home. I've let the car cool and I've had a look at the tank.
I've included a picture of the current level. Can't see any signs of leaks, it's parked on a rather clean driveway so it would show pretty quickly.
Does the tank...

Hi
Over the last couple of months, I have been getting the 'Low coolant' message every 50-100 miles. It only took a half cup to top it up, so I've not been too concerned.
Anyway, I have taken the top engine cover off and found this: (I hope the attachments work, 1st post and all that!)...
My OM642 V6 is now due engine coolant change and a new V belt aswell. What is a reasonable price including genuine parts from an Indie to do this work and roughy how long would it take to do?
Having finally got it running yeterday, I drove to work in it today...
Up at 5 and start car ...cough splutter miss but running...running rough but that's not unusual till a bit of heats in it (blame the missing no 6 glow plug and the continuing saga of air in the system)
Anyway finally leave...
just started my 2003 sl55 after a couple of months and there is a slight water leak appears to be coming from a small pump type thing in front of the drivers front wheel. its definatly coolant. anyone know what it is ?
Is there a specific coolant that is better for your car rather than using water? I believe i've seen some people using a bright green liquid. Anyone know what it is and weather it makes a difference?
