16 plate pics thread

I used to think it was a big deal back when it was once a year in August. When it switched to twice yearly it lost it's appeal imo and your new car becomes 'outdated' in half the time.

It's the fixation on how new the car is for me. Never mind the condition/mileage etc which could be far better than a newer registered car.

Not sure this really counts ;)

That looks like Newlands Corner, I did go up there on the odd occasion with my Lotus.

I couldn't care about the reg plates, in fact the personal plat my wife bought me will no doubt be transferred to it soon (unless it goes on the bike).

I'm all for celebrating the new purchase though, I've had new, old, very old, ex demo and there is a special feeling to picking up a new car, knowing it's not been with anyone else before (virgin bride anyone?) and then there's the interest in seeing new cars coming onto the forum as their is a genuine car interest here, it being a motoring forum and all....

The new car stays new as long as I can keep the kids out of it so mine got old yesterday but it'll still smell new for a few weeks.

My new C350e is getting a private plate on it, but I'll know it's brand spanking new.

Long time since I've had a brand new car ... so I'm gonna enjoy it to the max !

I was just interested in what new MB's people had not the plate :)

I'll bet you didn't know this but I've got a spanking new E Class Stu. Did I tell you already? Might have mentioned it. It's a 16 plate! It's brand new!!!

But it's down in Poole!!!

Pics will be posted on Monday. :bannana:

As one member here said, used to be a big when new reg was for a year e Aug 1st.

My first brand new car was a ford Mondeo Ghia v6 in 1998, then the year or next reg went to six monthly change as opposed to the yearly one but i did not care, it was a big thing for me as it was my first brand new car and a car in blac as i always wanted.
Since then only bought a few months old or pre reg. (Btw, my dad was still alive then and he was pleased that I had done well as almost everyone that saw the car liked it - I had side airbags fitted and st grill - side airbags were rare those days)

And like another member on this thread, i kept on putting off buying a brand new car and eventually bought a GLE del ETA April - I'm not a business man or rich but I never buy anything on credit/hp as its money down the drain imo.

I was persuaded by my wife and two children to buy brand new as we may keep the car for 5/7 yrs+ and only really use for weekends or little trips to the coast, weddings and parties.

TBH, unless we win the premium bonds as don't do the lottery, our next car will be a pre-reg/ex demo and hopefully a Range Rover. IMO, unless you are rich, or you intend to keep the car for years, not worth buying brand new but a pre-reg, ex demo with a few miles on the clock is ok

Totally agree with you buying nearly new is a great approach, but there are many tax advantages for my new purchase that make it a very viable option.

It also depends on the deal, I've bought a few brand new now and on each occasion the deal for a new one was better than ex demo. If your not buying cash you tend to find better finance deals on new too.

Picking my car up from repairs and lots of 16s waiting their new owners. Most interesting was this one... Not sure it would be my choice

It is completely down the the individual car. At the moment, cars like the E Class can be bought new for less than ex demo. Also, cars like GLA and CLA, which are holding their value can also be bought new for similar money to used

Found the same with my GLC, I couldn't find an ex demo spec for the same price as the discounted new one. It's one of those classic 'it depends' scenarios.
