I try and change this trust issue people have with garages. Not all of us are here to tell BS and to rip people off.

Agreed with this. You can find good ones.
Example, I asked my specialist to inspect my brake pipes under the sill of the w212. Sent me a video of them after they'd cleaned them up, all pristine and don't need replacing. £100 for good peace of mind. They could have said oh mate, you need new lines and it's only £xxx, not safe to drive, and they could have bodged some CuNi on for some quick cash.
They also said drop links probably need doing next year. I know you love to do some DIY, here's the part number is you fancy it in the summer.
Also, just had ATF service. Said wait a minute, before we give you a price, we know Merc have just dropped all their prices. Came back with £224. Very good price!
They are pretty transparent and honest with me.

yes its a shame garages have a bad reputation !!!! I was a car/bike mechanic for nearly 40 years, i hated the thought of ripping people off so did my job the best i could, built up a good reputation and had customers asking me to work on their vehicles !! their are good mechanics/garages out their but unfortunately their seems to be more bad ones than good ones ? a lot of mechanics these days are just fitters, we seem to be loosing true mechanics

I suggest that there is a good business principle there.
Customer feels there was good value, and a reliable service,
even stops asking how much as there is a trusting relationship developed (that's me anyway).
The returning customer means the business has the bread and butter sorted.

This is the number one sh1te company, every MB owner in Sweden loathes Hedin Automotive.
They'll rob you @ premium costs and they will also rip you off by deliberately sabotage your car!

Do it all myself, that way, it only costs the parts and my time, don’t think I’d want to pay someone £100, just to look at my brake pipes, I can do it for nothing, each to their own I guess.
