Hi all.
This is a completely revised post to one posted earlier as things have changed and the old post is no longer relevant.

2001 W203 240 with the common EAS, ABS, limp home problem. All signs point to the brake light switch which I changed for a new Lucas unit straight away. With either the new or old switch the EAS, ABS error persists.

The brake lights work.
If I link out the connector there's no difference and I've multi-metered the switches and they are good and reliable.

HOWEVER! My Foxwell diagnostic's real time readout from the BAS shows the switch isn't working. I've video'd it so you can see. As I press the brake pedal the BAS release, a signal from the master cylinder, is working but as you can also see the stop lamp switch is not read by the ESP module. But it must be - the brake lights work! :wallbash:

I've been looking for a wiring diagram for the car, would anyone have a PDF then can send me?

Cheers.

Did you buy the new switch from a dealer using your vin ?

I only ask as there are a few types , when I needed one for my old clk430 , there were 3 or 4 to choose from , hence the need for the vin.

Sure mine was manufactured by Bosch ?

Mine was a Lucas unit from a good motor parts dealer. Is it possible I have to get a genuine one?

For the cost of them ( OEM around £15 ) I wouldn't get one anywhere else.

Take your vin to make sure you get the right one ;)

At least then , with a genuine one you can rule that out , and for the cost , it's a no brainer.

Good luck.

I called MB last week and they wanted approx £65 :O

Blimey !

Gone up a bit in the last couple of years then !
