The car has a manual gearbox.

I have noticed on the motorway in high gears the clutch appears to be slipping. I'm not a mechanic but have replaced clutches on BMW's etc but never a mercedes. I've changed an engine, gearboxes, clutches etc before and have a garage, ramps and tools at my disposal and I'm not afraid of getting dirty so I fancy doing it myself.

Does anybody have any hints, tips, advice or know of any good guides to do the job?

Any help is much appreciated, thanks in advance :)

I doubt that it will be any more difficult than other clutches you've replaced, i fitted another auto box to my ml270 and it was a lot easier, and quicker job than i was expecting.

I would go for a genuine MB clutch ass' to avoid the possibility of any problems. Maybe also, a new dmf?

I was thinking of going for an OE quality LUK clutch but I'll price one up at mercedes before I decide, I'll check the dual mass flywheel for excessive play as they rarely break and are expensive to replace, often cost more than the clutch. I'll flush the gearbox and re-fill it with fresh fluid whilst it's out.

A Sachs or LUK clutch will be fine. Get a new bearing too.

They are very straight forward on a MB.
