On a more serious note, are you guys running tyres rated for 190mph runs? I thought most are only rated to 178.

I changed all mine before I went on the hammer event for this reason, hopefully everyone going has or will be sensible enough to make sure of such factors.

Hi, sorry to crash in on the thread at this stage.

Do folk ever break their cars at one of these? Have pm'd Ricky for info, would love to see what's it's like, but don't want to be coming home on a low-loader.

Car is well serviced, tyres are fine, (will check rating - they're PZeros), brakes are fine, etc. Anything out the ordinary I might need to consider?

Well what was expected of that little action I ask, not going to happen on an E55 Auto box Simon!
When a few of us went to the Vmax hammer event last year, I saw 1 no. TVR, never made it to the grid at all, AA collected in the afternoon, 1 no. modified Audi A4, had some sort of problem after a couple of runs and 1 no. modified A4 had I believe a blow out on his braking through the beams, think he damaged the rear suspension, its the white one sitting on the verge on the braking area in Marty's video. As far as I know that was it, out of 50 plus cars, yes its a risky event, it goes for everyone attending, but some cars are made to be driven, and I would include in that the AMG cars, whats the point of having these cars if you cannot excersice them occassionly, and this way its a privately organised event, not one where one boasts of how it was 100 plus MPH on public roads, there's no police looking over your shoulder, and you drive your car as hard as you care to. You will find most people run their cars a couple of times and then rest them to cool down, no one wants to damage their pride and joy.

I'm sure it will be fine. My car goes into my indie a few days before for a full checkover just to make sure everythings ok and after attending 3 or 4 of these Ive only ever seen the cars Ricky mentioned and a highly modified Golf R32 with problems.

I asked a dealer about taking the limiter off years ago and they told me it had to go back to Germany! Most remap company's can remove the limiter only but will probably charge the same as a full remap.
