Hi,I suppose its trusting the guy who is doing the job and being able to watch might help,how long does it take to regas a system .With my luck an o-ring will fail ,I am currently having trouble with oil and o-rings. thread mb c180 in the engine section.Thanks for your time.

I think most dealers outsource their aircon re-gas operations to local mobile guys anyway so you might as well call them up instead!

Update: When I was round at Kwik Fit yesterday, the chap said "tell all your mates about our £35 offer". I did and my brother in law went round this morning with an old MX5. Kwik Fit wanted £69 now and pleaded ignorance of the offer. Put me on the phone and I reminded them what I was told. Various "who did you speak to" and wriggles but eventually agreed to do it for £35. Don't know yet if it worked or not.

Bit of a farce though and shows where their reputation comes from. I was left feeling we were dealing with a firm of sharks and yet the guy yesterday seemed fine.

Update, my brother in law wasn't charged anything for doing the MX5 in the end as it still had the old obsolete connectors

They ask £49 for a re-gas, and you don't pay unless they improve your temp by 10%. For £69 they do the re-gas, give the system a scrub and replace the pollen filter too. I got the wifey's done this week, it took about 30mins all and and she's now a very cool happy driver.

Ive decided to have the regas for the SL55 at MB Chester with anti bac and leak check and lube its £90 plus they will do the multipoint check and find it needs 4 ABC legs and a pump etc etc - for the extra £40 over Kwik Fit I feel its worth it as I fret over the paintwork getting scraped by pipes, caps being left off etc.

I'm getting mine regassed tomorrow. Recommendation through a friend of Ian's who is as **** (fussy!) as Ian is about his cars and so is the air con man. When I spoke to him he explained that he would test the system and the reasons why etc and if all goes well with no leaks whole process is £59. I'd much rather go for a recommended person as otherwise I wouldn't know where to start.

Need the air con done in case we have another blast of good weather here, and also am contemplating taking the Merc abroad this year so will need it then for sure!

All done in an hour with a health check as well, I've found the health check sheets are a strong selling point if you make a private sale.
The SL had all ticks, good brake pads and Tyres boring but once again I love this car!!
No leaks in the ac and it was notable more efficient (not just colder) afterwards.
Well done MB Chester who have changed a lot in the 18 months since I last visited - all good.
