All C43 AMG owners - What shall I do?

So, are Auto Express implying the problem occurring in the colder months is acceptable?

Suggest you read the article above which highlights their findings and plans going forward.

I have but if I've misinterpreted it please enlighten.

O.K., I've read the it again. Yes, it would seem I've misinterpreted it.

My take on this is that this 'characteristic' will not sufficiently disappear during the warmer months which will force A E to look into this again so in a round about way they are committed to this story. As for whether they accept it is normal is uncertain.

my c43 came back from Mercedes Wolverhampton yesterday and I was told the same thing - that the car came with Summer tyres and the cold weather and the tyres causes the tyre to flex and that its simply a comfort issue rather than a safety issue...

I should perhaps point out there is no such organisation as DEKFA its DEKRA!

DEKRA Automotive - DEKRA

Interesting to note that they state the issue is a "normal characteristic of the 4-Matic System". That to me says that this is indeed a results of transmission "wind up" and the tyres are absorbing/or not the trans wind up.

Hi c43amg84,

Same message all GLC owners receive :(

I've never had to fit winter tyres on any of our cars - has it really been a cold winter?

Did the dealer give you a price for winter tyres?

Be interested to hear how you get on.

Thanks,
Tony

And not just that, their advertising regarding their 4-Matic system states this in their showroom ;)

Not sure what their definition of smooth is...

Could you take that to the motoring Ombudsman for misleading and deceptive advertising?? Given the amount of evidence that's been captured by yourself an others - may add more weight in favour of the customer when seeking rejection of the vehicle.

Absolutely - I think it has more chance in miss selling then being able to proof a fault was present.

But are Mercedes shipping the uk models here with winter tyres fitted during the winter delivery period?

I'm sure one member had theirs shipped with summer tyres on. Surely if they're being delivered with summer tyres during a winter season then by the logic of the crabbing problem they're being delivered not fit for purpose?

(... I'm getting a deja vu feeling after typing that. Think I may of already asked this in the thread and it was answered, if so then forgive me)

I picked mine up on 20th December and it had Summer tyres fitted.

Good point well made. There isn't even a tick box nor discussion when ordering that they maybe required. Let alone an ability to actually order them.

So their own solution is to basically spend xxx amount of money to fix the problem when it came with out of season tyres

At the very least I'd expect them to cough up for suitable tyres which they're trying to flog everyone as a fix, how are they getting away with this? :dk:

I've been offered them at cost; but funnily enough haven't been given a price. I can only imagine it is because;
a) They don't actually exist for my official Mercedes GLC configurator wheels.
b) They can't actually supply them.

It is quite funny if it wasn't so tragic.

I am in there this morning yet again, we'll see what happens this time. It would be nice if they actually just gave a replacement courtesy car and then they can keep it for as long as they like (within reason).

Does this only happen at slow speed and on full lock?
I'm taking delivery of AMG C43 estate in mid April and I am starting to show some concern!
I do really like the car and if it's only on full lock I feel that I could live with it.
I think I would rather have the car with full lock available than have it with limited lock should that be the fix applied to the vehicle to stop this problem.

If it's happening when full lock is not applied then I may consider cancelling my order.

Driver200 how are you finding you car now?

Will I have to sign the disclaimer as my point of sale was in November?
What will happen if I refuse to sign?

I have a C43 Estate - the crabbing for me is on nearly to full lock and when it is cold (the 'feature' lessens as it gets warmer). It annoys me only because I think it can be sorted and I worry that long term it may be doing some damage.... That aside it is nice car!
