Almost pulling the trigger on a W212 E63

Very nice position to be in. When I was ordering the C63 I saw an E63 estate at the dealers and did think it was a better looking car but just too expensive for me. The options are silly money. Since then they have had some cracking offers on them, mainly as my salesman said the E63 just is not selling. If you really want one then get it but why not wait for the 5.5 Turbo engine. Rumours are the C class will not get the 5.5 engine.

But the thing is surely you will be changing your mind again. Do it properly and wait a few years and save your cash for a serious weapon such as a used SLS or next generation Porsche 911 which is due soon.

Think of the money you've spent on bulbs!!!

No you don`t :D:D.I see you like speed, and you like to get what we`re on about :rolleyes:
Be a MAN,have some nuts opppps sorry,I mean have this

VÄTH (W124) V12 - 7.2L - Bilgalleri.dk - Danmarks største bilgalleri

Now that's crazy...but not quite 'me'! You mad nutter!

How is it a sound financial move when you have spent in excess of £72k and you will lose thousands when trading it in?

I would have thought that after spending a fortune making a car exactly how you want it you would enjoy it not sell it after 8 months.

I appreciate that we are all different I just find it strange that you are never happy with something for any length of time.

Because Jon, that is what I do. Always have and probably always will. Also, I never said I wasn't happy....indeed, I'm very happy with the C63 but still fancy a change (after all, I've owned C63's for nearly 16 months now ). If I drive the other cars and but end up preferring the C63 then I won't be changing but if I see something else that I like, I'll go for it. Although, as you'll read below it may well not be the E63.....

I respect your opinion as always but we'll never agree on such things. I'm sure there as many people who would be as shocked as you are in what I'm doing as there are who agree with me but hey, the wonders of different people is what makes the world go round.

Best off to just let me be and get on with doing what makes me happy...well, for now, until the next car comes along ;)

Ae you sure you will get a stronger deal without trade in?

Dealers make their money on second hand car sales and if theres a demand for your type of car then this is why they will be offering you a decent price.

Worth checking first IMO

Yes, the dealer have admitted that they have overstated the trade-in against the new car. Very honest of them but just means they'll have to work harder now.

Why not have a change and go for the Maserati Granturismo S? There's a couple in my parents village and they sound absolutely out of this world. Plus if you have something different for a bit, you'll love Mercs again when you eventually want to return to the AMG fold.

Exactly what I'm leaning towards - the Maser is cheaper, will depreciate less and will be a 'change'. It's also bloody nice but then I'm only saying this on the basis of looks and it might still be a pig to drive! :dk:

And yes, it means I can come back to the fold when there are a wider range of (cheaper) E63's which have depreciated to a more reasonable level (albeit they won't be available with such a well-subsidised offer). As you'll probably guess, that change would likely be only a few months after purchase of my next car :D

Tomorrow I'm going to drive the Maserati and the other car now on my shortlist....an Aston V8 Vantage. I considered one earlier on in the year before I got the C63 but didn't like the interior or the way it drove however that was a 2007 4.3 model. The facelift 2009 model year with the bigger 4.7 engine and different interior was too expensive at the time but is now within budget and worth another chance....if only for the looks alone!

Corvette??....off the list now as nobody offers any financial solution on a LHD car. Shame...they're comparative bargains!

emm and i think you would be losing your bet with a mb forum member ... think it was 50 to charity right lol

Yes....I haven't forgotten that pagzzy! If I change, I will happily be paying up! And accept defeat :wallbash:

From a selfish point of view i think you should make the change to the E63..........

So we can all get a write-up on the new car and the inevitable mods that will follow:D

'Let's take the Maserati'. Got a ring to it, hasn't it? Evo's Metcalfe loved his so much he bought it back after a year or so. I hope you choose the Maser - even though I love Mercs.

I might be missing something here but as a head of a contact centre (whatever that is), what sort of dough do you earn a year?

Enough to afford the monthly payments! Actually, more importantly, the depreciation.

It's a fairly senior position within a very large retail PLC but I also run my own business on the side...which helps. ;)

+1 since he did not like the old man`s car I found him

Like what, a hundred grand a year?

I would like to draw you attention to my comment of 'but I also run my own business on the side'.

I obviously wouldn't do this on top of a very good 'regular' job if it wasn't worth my while.

And that' the most I'll be saying ;)

I say go for it if that's what you want.

Don't understand the facination with your earnings??

So you get a E63 and do some 'mods' there will always be someone with a E63 with More mods. What does it matter if your happy with the end result.

Many on here are as happy with their car whether it be a £1500 C180 or a £100000 S63

It's not how much £ it costs its how happy you are with it.

Go on...... :) now you have planted the seed the C63 days ARE numbered.

Thank you!! I do find it a bit odd being asked what I earn on a public forum and certainly isn't something I would be comfortable asking someone else! Again, different people and all that....

I'm sure theres many more people on here with much more financial clout than me...I'm just a regular guy who likes to waste (nearly) all his cash silly cars! I'm sure those that have met me will concur!

Anyway, with regards to the car....absolutely! I've been the same from my first car - a Citroen Saxo...I had 3 of them in 2 years :o (I'll get my coat?) right through the last 15 years to now.

However, I don't think I've made this clear enough....unless the other cars are VERY GOOD then I will not be selling the C63 at this stage. Remember, I attempted to buy something else earlier this year when I had my last C63 and ended up with....another C63. They are VERY good.

Anyone seen the latest Evo and Car magazines....C63 is part of the usual M3, ISF and RS5 group tests and in both tests comes out joint top with the M3 as a 5-star car.

hey palmy, we all know ur nuts abt ur motas, go for it, the more u buy and perfect, the more decent examples go on the 2nd hand market for us lot ;) lol

seriously, e63 is a beast, but i do think you wont find it nimble enough for you after the c63.

look forward to your report back after the test drive

Have you read this weeks AutoExpress Palm?

C63 Coupe Black Series - that should float your boat!

Yes, but its a very poor rendering (it won't look like that for real) and have you seen the projected cost....£100k  It'll hold it's value though...theres a CLK Black currently for sale at nearly £100k and it's 2 years old with 18k on the clock!

Given it'll probably be very similar to what I've done to my C63 (KW coilovers like other Black's, bigger exhaust headers and freer flowing cats) it makes mine look like a comparative bargain!

You have got a lot more patience than me, what with all the questions about your earnings and people questioning your buying preferences.
Seriously, some people need to keep their noses out!!
You obviously enjoy your cars so, why not spend some of your hard earned on them? :dk:
Happy Spending :thumb:

Ahh well, you've got to expect some of it by posting on a public forum...par for the course.

Not everyone's going to agree with me but I like to share my experiences for those that do appreciate it. Those that don't...well, thats their choice isn't it - they don't have to read what I write!

Very diplomatic :thumb::D
Just for the record- buy the E63. As beautiful as a Maserati is, I have it on good authority that it is on a whole new level of cost of ownership...

I think you know what I am going to say Andy, just get the fecker ordered mate. ;)

Seriously, you're still only 30, can afford to do it so why not? :)

You will probably get to a point in 5 or so years when swapping motors will start to become less appealing, I am now 37 and it happened to me last year, I honestly thought I would swap my car every 6 months for the rest of my life, or as long as I could afford to, but last year the interest started to fade. So I say while it is your passion/hobby and the funds are there, go for it mate.
