AMG Trackday...Dates

Hey guys,

I reckon any date in July or August would be good for me.

The weather is my concern, so I would rather go in the later/ summer months.

I should be able to take any day off work if needed, so the day is not too much of a concern.

However, there are a few days in each month that I do need to be in work for, so I will definately confirm my attendance when a likely/ confirmed date is suggested.

I'm happy to pay the deposit, but if it ends up pi$$ing on the day, I probably won't make it.

Summer rain is acceptable enough, but I can't imagine it'll be that enjoyable on track.

Me and Nige are in as said for any day so if its the 29th April then I will need to let work know as I usually work this bank holiday but can swap with one of my colleagues.

As soon as you need a deposit Ricky let me know mate.

My car is not exactly suited to a track session but will tag along as a spectator and amuse myself taking pictures for the combatants, sorry i mean participants as memories of the day.

Been keeping an eye on the intrest expressed re the proposed track day, A little dissappointing really given 26 people flagged up an initial intrest, but I knew this would happen, from previous experiences, sorry to say this but the missing original intrested parties have not got the time to wollow about, you have got to put a little effort in yourselves and give us a commitment a yes or no, else we will run out of time, and remember we need to get monies in place, and GW dates are going, but also very grateful to the hard core few who are on board and also giving lots of input and being flexible, so we will all soldier on for the moment. I am going to call GW tomorrow to reconfirm that the 29th April is still available, and subject to that date getting paid up and booked on this Friday by others, we can assume we have until the 3rd of January to get ourselves in gear and make a decision re; the the 29/4/11.
We have a couple of options given I dont see us making 25 cars with the intrest currently shown, but from the onboard intrested few, we can see if we can encourage friends or clients to attend, or we could fly this proposal up on the PH site or other MB site, and see if we can put the 25 cars together privately. Another option is to gather our own troops, to whatever number, and asked GW to see if they could fill the remaining spaces, there is a downer to this generally, the space fillers will probaly only pay a proportion of the due cost, which means we will have to subsidise them, Iam not keen on this option out of princapal. A final option, unless someone has a better idea, is less cars more cost, but this will be very prohibitive cost wise. For the hard core few involved, should this proposed event fail, I have a final option, which potentially will be short notice, but could possible get us a trackday, albeit shared with others, not really what I had in mind when I flagged this post up, but I will be going independantly at times anyway, but GW admin not keen on this idea, but it could work. If by the 4th/1/11 we have failed I will PM all the hardcore intrested parties info on this and get your reaction, but hopefully with a little effort from some of the original intrested people, we might still fly this day.....? (sorry for a little bit of rant)

PS, Re Benjy and Mika posts, if theres a second date proposed I for one will also be onboard

I think we should in the first instance press on for 29/4 suggest you put a list up
i think we have 6-7 confirmed already and certainly MB members should be invited we probably have to move to first come first served AMG badges or not

- is it worth checking the 13th august also as there were 6 or so who said this day suited?
could put two lists up and encourage people to sign up
-start a couple of new date specific threads?

Hi mate,

Some good options there Ricky and as I have said I am up for whatever dates and options are available and others want to do.

You have stated all the options, given the costs and made a lot of effort to get this off the ground mate and thats all you can do. I am sure that there will be a few more that will be interested but as you say we need to get numbers so a deposit can be given out to GW at the beginning of the year.

I'll ask a few others that I no and see if there is any interest from them but keep persisting my friend what may seem not such a good idea to some now may change come the new year.

Great to see someone organising, we have you to thank for that. I can't make April and other dates are too far out to confirm until we get into 2011. If plans change I will post again (if there are spaces left), but would very much like to meet up with this crowd here.

Mika, Not a Prob mate, will ask GW tomorrow if they can keep me informed about status of Aug 13th availablity. Starting a new list, yes good, but the issure some people are not gathering here, and I refer to the missing intrested parties, is you need to get the monies down to book the day, if not someone else has/will and that date is then gone. Now bare in mind the £1500 deposit is non refundable (25x£60), now I personally am happy to front that deposit amount of money up and risk its loss due to non intrest, as may the rest of the onboard parties, inc yourself to make this work, but some of the others need to get involved and make an effort on their part and there on helping us to put this together, this potentially could be the most thrilling enjoyable day, but anything ike this is never easy, it takes effort, and in this case its needs the effort of the others to now come forward. Again thanks to yourself Mika, Benjy and the other lads onboard for all your input and help to date, lets see where we are in the middle of next week, bar fat and drunk!.

My last post tonight, had a PM from Lopes, he,s on board, along with his mate Gary, on whatever date, (subject to emergency) but on board. I will post up the existing current list for the 29/4/11 (subject to GW telling me tomorrow its still available), and also, as per Mika,s suggestion earlier another list for the August date, and see where we go. I echo the sentiments of Benjy and Mika regarding your effort in trying to organise this. Really appreciate it, and appreciate it's tricky, especially as you seem to be the first one to do this!

I can 100% make the 29th April. I've already booked the time off work. I'm also happy to send some deposit money whenever you get this to the appropriate stage.

Would happily do later in the year AS WELL - I'm actually starting 6 months parental leave on the 7th July and can either bring JuniorInLux (leave him with the missus/non-drivers while on track) or just get the missus to sort him out to and from the creche for a day or two.:bannana:

For what it's worth, less cars and more cash is not a problem for me.

Just got in, gotta sort myself and I will be back with the, very pleased to say. the growing list. Just to say GW have told me at lunch time, that both April 29th and August 13th are still available, and are now unlikly to go now till the new year, so we have this holiday period to get this sorted and booked.
