Anyone seen any good number plates on cars lately?

In a documentary I was watching recently, at the front of a tailors/formal hire shop on Billet Lane in Hornchurch, a Ford Escort with the reg SEW 1T.

I can't see the plate registered to any vehicle now. I wonder what happened to that reg?
I was planning to get up early this morning, but I looked outside and it was cold, wet and miserable, so I thought SOD 1T and got back in bed 😁

I remember seeing this on a Merc when I was much younger and it always stuck with me - not because I love private reg plates, I’m not a huge fan...

It was a two door sports car.

I searched and it’s for sale: CLA 55Y on New Reg Personal Number Plates
At about £100k that is going to someone with money, not class!

As a teenager I got a job cleaning my girlfriend‘s fathers car. He had just bought MDM 1 (his initials) for £400 to put on his Triumph 2000.

I think I’ve just shown how old I really am.....😱

I'm prettyy sure I've seen that out on the roads over the years and IIRC, it was once on a black CLS.

Did you marry her?
The plate will surely be worth upwards of £100,000 now.

MMC1 is round my way, I've known it all my life.
They have 111 MMC and 3 TMC....I think.
Last time I saw MMC 1 it was on a beat up pick up, which was when I had a chat with him.
The company is Marske Machine Company. The owner is Mike McCullogh(no idea how its spelt) so it's a perfect plate, his son is Tim.

No! She married a doctor, probably the right thing given the problems she has had over the years. But all ok now.
The plates I have have appreciated a little over the years, but I have to say that one was a good investment and it is what sparked my interest in number plates.

Most plates aren't worth what they are advertised at.

I would think it would fetch that sort of money if advertised for a period of time, especially if more than one MDM person or organistion is interested in it.

This is one of the reasons I miss MOCAS so much. He'd have a good idea of the value of MDM 1.

I suppose with 2 M’s in the plate it might be worth a bit more but

PBD 1 £20,000.
MDM 1 £100,000. Nah.

Regarding 1 or more persons or organisations being interested and pushing up the price, you could say that for all plates.

A lot of registration plate companies inflate their valuations, to inflate the expectations of the sellers. I recently moved a number of my plates to a new company and their valuations were frankly ludicrous. Clearly some of plates that you see for sale are worth big sums, where most are up for sucker money.

I bought one of mine for way less than half the advertised price.

It depends who wants MDM 1.
It really could well sell at over £100,000.

There are 3 letter, 1 number plates HERE for over £100,000.

The only 1 plate with 3 letters and the number 1 on there I could see is
1 AMY at €125k

Thats a lot different from MDM 1.

Its like this on another site it is £250,000
