I have waited years to buy this number plate, as it had never been issued, until yesterday when it came up at the DVLA auxction.

KWA 750N

As close as I could get to my name.

:o :o :o :D :D Thanks very much. Now you have explained it I can see the family resemblance. :)

Surely to make any sense this number would have to be 'altered'??

I am NOT criticising wobbly over this, I am though criticising the DVLA. What on earth is so attractive about the number KWA 750N??

Answer:
The DVLA has recognised the significance and are perhaps inciting someone to commit an illegal alteration?? No doubt they would deny this, seize the number and then re-auction it??

John the fikky

Just for your info, when i do get the plates made, I will not be making any illegal spacings.

I understand what you mean with people altering numbers and letters, or by adding bolts to make the registration to appear to look completely different.

I currently have a cherished number plate on my ML, and about 5 years ago, a friend of mine spotted car with what appeared to be the same number plate as mine. He took a photograph of the car, and a close up of the number plate.
The number 8 had a bolt placed to make it look like a 9. What really was worrying was that both vehicles were black 4x4s.

I reported this to the police, and gave them a copy of the photos.I never heard anymore about it.

Hi Wobbly, Hopefully you accept that I never even hinted that you would even consider such a thing. My beef is with the DVLA for putting a premium on an ordinary number.

Good luck with the new number,
Regards,
John

Thats true John.

Yes I paid a lot of money for an ordainry number plate.

But some of the prices at yesterdays auction shocked me, £8000 for LEW 111S, even with illegal spacing it still dosnt mean alot!!!

The DVLA are making huge amounts of money from cherished plates, so I dont think they will be stopping releasing interesting plates in the future, even if the know they are going to be altered.

probably a very expensive plate - but i guess he can afford it ---

ENZ 800 ....on a new red Ferrari - of course

* V6 6EXY on another Clio V6
* AL (has to be a show plate) on, yes, another Cwio.
* F4STA on, erm, another Clio (there were a lot of Clios - maybe something to do with it being a Renault day).
