It was using that "funny" shaped letters & numerals of the time.
We gave it a "pull" I was a plod at the time & it all checked out legit

Indeed, I seem to remember we popped into a local branch of Rumbelows & mentioned it to the manager, who said he'd report the matter to head office. It wasn't from their branch. Never saw it again.

I do remember that the ownership details checked out correct

Could well be, it had lots of writing on but I was drivng past it so couldn't really crane my neck to read! But the plate really stuck in my head!
