Anyone seen any good number plates on cars lately?

1 D and 1 LAW, both on Bentley Continentals today, the former on St James Square and the latter on Chancery Lane.

The Bentley is a very nice looking black one.. usually black is just so bland, but that plate really is a looker on it!

Saw this a couple of weeks back. Nice car too.

I saw this one at my local dealership service centre, its at Wandsworth Bridge, but they are called Chelsea Mercedes.

The number is SFR,but its on USA plate,Washington.. Very nice car,a proper AMG version. But why so far from home ?

The car would fetch maybe £65,000 on a good day, but you'd be lucky to get any no.1 number plate with a single letter for less than £250k, even a back-to-front one.

The value of 1 D will be further enhanced by the "ID" connotation, even if that does require it to be displayed illegally...

Yep, I think it went for £285k ex fees + taxes! IIRC it was auctioned last year and broke some records at the time. I remember reading that it was a present from a guy to his wife...

This is what these plates have sold for at DVLA auctions. Buyer would have paid around 25% on top of the hammer price.

1 M is assigned to Malaysian Embassy, while all the others not listed above had already been issued.

1 K is owned by the same guy who owns K 1.
1 R is owned by financier Warren Steingold (as has been mentioned on this thread before).
1 U was bought by its current owner in 1966, along with the moped it was on, for about £17.

Interesting to see what these plate make these days.

I once had an interesting plate, this was in the early 1970`s.The number was PLE 73. It was on an interesting car too..

The car was a Damlier DB36.Huge great thing with a big straight-eight engine, and a pre-select gearbox. Who remembers them ?

I gave, free of charge, the car with the plate on to a chum.

Isnt hindsight a wonderful thing.:(
