Anyone seen any good number plates on cars lately?

FFF I on Audi A3 Central London today

Apparently the plate belongs to Westend Garage in Bala, although a quick Google search reveals that they are Volvo specialists, and these recent sightings are a long way from Wales - so I'm guessing it's changed hands.

WCL 5 - Merc A150
ASH 79 - Roller
WED 250 - Bentley
All on Park Lane in London last night

And also HMS 4 on a Range Rover. No, not at Admiralty Arch....

C63 BLK on a C63 (black of course) on Battersea Bridge last Sunday

Couple of diplomat ones - BOT 1 on a BMW 7 Series in Terminal 5 Car park, and QUE 2 on a BMW 5 Series on Cromwell Road/Gloucester Road.

Also saw PR05PER on a black Lamborghini outside the Mandarin Oriental.

Saw EM 3 today a silver SL

Guys,

Sorry to hijack this long thread but what's the point in spotting, let alone taking pictures of number plates? Overwhelming majority of plates posted on here are meaningless abbreviations, not even fun or something super rare.

555 KBP? GDS 9? 99 NTU?

Do they really mean anything to you? If so, what is it.

PS: Not to hurt anyone's feelings but I think I've seen this thread popping up more times than anything else. Wouldn't it be great if it was moved somewhere and made sticky rather than constantly showing on the first page of General Discussions?

PPS: Sorry again guys, had to vent.

PPPS: Can we have a thread with hot babes too?

1. Walking around taking pictures of meaningless private plates is indeed both foolish and childish, as well as total waste of time. It is also, however, strangely addictive.

2. It is indeed very odd that a private plates thread will span 500+ pages. I can not see why anyone in their right mind would be interested. Yet again it seems to magically draw-in the crowds.... as is everything else in this day and age, it is all based on rating and popular demand. :D

3. As for your last PS, it has been tried but Admins said Nyet , and Admins have the last word - after all it is their forum, we are all guests enjoying their generous hospitality. :thumb:

Love to chat, but must dash and snap some more private plates....

Alx, the title of this thread refers to "good" number plates, which by my definition means dateless, with the letters in front of the numbers and up to four characters overall, though I'm happy to make exceptions for some with other interesting attributes (including those that happen to spell something).

I must admit that I never thought I'd start taking and posting photos of plates :o but it seems the novelty of having a 'camera' (ie: iPod) on me at all times has not yet worn off...

Thing is, I often see various threads popping up in the "new posts" search that don't particularly interest me, so I just ignore them and concentrate on the ones that do.

.

Especially if it's on an interesting car, or something exotic - e.g. L1 on the post above, if I recall is on a Maybach - not particularly interesting to some, but it's a rare car (outside of Mayfair/Knightsbridge!).

Sometimes, the car can just be "normal" in which case it can be interesting to note that the number plate can be worth more than the car it's on!
