I don't think a Mercedes-Benz number plate looks right unless it's retained by four visible screws. That plate on B 88 above looks plain shabby.

It belongs to the Malaysian embassy, remember? (It originally denoted "Independent Malaysia".) The car will spend most of its life in service roaming the streets of London, so it's probably the sensible choice.

On any other car I'd agree with you, but the four screws front and back are such an MB hallmark that I can't bear to see one without them.

Not a fan of frames. I view them in the same way as those plasti-chrome borders some people put around their light units.
