Saw these two good ones today:

Someone paid the DVLA £8400 for that in 2002. However, they got a relative bargain, as five years later WE57 HAM went for... £45,000.

"Well known London business man Richard Shea bought WE57 HAM at a DVLA number plate auction, Richard insists that the plate will be outside the Hammers on a brand new Bentley ASAP. The bidding was strong and sometimes only going up in 100's, the eventual hammer price was £57,000."

C 100 on a Saab 9-3 Estate on the A30 in Bagshot

C 100 belongs to Cussons, the soap company. They also own B 1001, M 1001, H 1001, T 1001, X 1001, DL 1001, FM 1001 and 1001 UK. The "1001" obsession is because they use it as a trademark for their carpet shampoo.

The other plate (1 AAP) is an auction jobbie.

Hammer price (no pun intended) was £45,000, but it came to just under £57,000 by the time VAT, buyer's premium and assignment fee had been added.

Seen at Brands Hatch at a PCGB Region 25 meeting last night. On the side of the car is a chrome thing saying V12 6.2L. Apologies for the poor quality - taken with mobile phone. It's a Lambo, in case you can't read it.
