I have a 2000 E220 CDI. The battery is flat, key fob or metal key wont open car so I cant lift bonnet/hood to charge battery. I dont wont to have to break window....any ideas. Thank you.

Hi Troon thanks for getting back to me. No it wont open the boot or drivers door.

there should be under the passenger foot well area a heavy duty connector if you remove the cap place + side of charger on this and then - side to any earth on the car should then give power

Ahh that great thanks alot i'll go have a look now i'll ket you know how I get on.

Clive is quite correct, that is the best option if the doors cannot be opened.

I would suggest using either a proper jump pack, or possibly a battery with jump leads - using a charger for this is not recommended.

Hi Clive, had a look and cant see any obvious flaps with easy access. On the 4 corners of the side skirts there are for flaps but inside are holes.....as you can see I'm not too up on mechanical things lol.

You will have to look further under the car, about 400-500mm in from the side underneath.

My guess is you will really struggle to do this - sorry.

Have you got breakdown membership? Mercedes managed to get into the boot of my W210 when I locked my keys in.

Just not sure about posting it as it's a bit public and effectively involved breaking into the car....

LOL david I can see your point but look when I joined MB Club, it is my car, if I was going to steel one I would be asking about a newer model. If I wanted to I would just break small window in the back door I just want to get in without resorting to that. No break down cover...yet but after reading all the problems with these cars I think I shall have to take some cover.

Just spotted something.

You state above 2000 model, which would make it a W210. However your side panel info states 2003, which means it is possibly a W211, which will not have the compartment under the passenger floor.

mmm. Can't PM you either. Oh well - sorry W210 owners. He used a rubber bladder inserted between the frame and drivers door. He then used a metal loop to hook onto the drivers door handle and opened the door, followed by the rear door. Next followed the back seat base (two tabs, one either side).

On driver side underneath somewhere is vacuum pump. remove hoses - one will be boot lock. Suck on it and it should open. Hopefully.

ETA As per Corned this will only work on W210, not W211 which have electric locks.

Hmm had thought about wedging door open but thought that will bend door. If I can get into car I can get batt as its under the back seat and I have new batt in garage just wish I had replaced it instead of going to the pub grrrr hind sight.
